I need some handbag help!

Expecting DC2, and I would like a lovely leather across body bag that I can keep my purse/phone in so I can keep the changing bag hanging on the pram without having to take it off. I also just want a new really nice handbag as I haven't had one for years, and it's the only thing I can think of to ask DH for for Christmas.

I would LOVE a mini Mulberry Alexa, but with a baby on the way and us moving house at some point soon it's probably unjustifiable to spend that much.

So, can anyone here help me out with a bag that will satisfy me? Preferably black leather, which will not go out of fashion and is timeless, well made and stylish all in one? I reckon he would probably go up to £250 for it.

Thanks!

mmm got Alexa and also got a baby and found it too big so i asked for Chloe- beautiful perfect size for mobile and wallet, bit over the budget though.

I quite liked this Bridge little leather bag: www.leathershop.co.uk/prod/867/the-bridge-flap_over-shoulder-b
it really looks better in real life :)
Also my friend has Mulberry Lily bag with chain, again perfect for just a wallet and mobile.

I did see the Lily but it looks REALLY tiny - def too small for my current wallet (although maybe an excuse for a new one of those too?!)

I'm not convinced about the Bridge bag - I believe you it looks better in real life but I think I'd have to go and have a look at it first.

Which Chloe bag do you mean (I know it's probably over budget but no harm in giving him a few ideas - you never know!)

Take a look at an Alexa camera bag online. I got mine from an outlet. IMO they are bigger than a mini Alexa and have the main Alexa features imo and not that much more than your budget.

Take a look at <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=1.bp.blogspot.com/-RHEr3RmQsv4/TzUTjc9THaI/AAAAAAAABJ8/mNSju-7zPes/s1600/01-gloria-nyfw-bag.jpg&imgrefurl=plhongflores.blogspot.com/2012/02/whats-in-bag_10.html&usg=__8tzxZTE9aWWAqZEkwVAVI97c9og=&h=461&w=667&sz=187&hl=en&start=6&zoom=1&tbnid=r7eRIfxcTlSNnM:&tbnh=95&tbnw=138&ei=HXGZUMiVOanO0QWKg4CQDg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dalexa%2Bcamera%2Bbag%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dms-rim%26channel%3Dbrowser%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">this

I like the camera bag, but I can't seem to find it anywhere official? It looks lovely though. A few on Ebay, but I'm always really sceptical about authenticity!

Ring up a Mulberry outlet (York, Bicester etc (look at the official Mulberry website). For around ten pounds they will send it to you). Its not a current season bag.

I would also check out the purse forum and the mulberry section. They have a reference thread.

Oh I like the Effie as well, though it looks a little bigger than what I'm after. I see what you mean about safety though, I much prefer something that zips up

I know Im terrible with bags...Just ask your husband ( read nag)..I love my big Alexa but is too big with the buggy/changing bag ( even though we are on a smaller bag now) and it would take ages to find my wallet under nappies etc. So having a nice cross body bag is essential :) LOL...
I prefer Chloe to Effie one, my friend has a beautiful Lily bag-everywhere I see them they have chain as a strap but hers doesnt...I WANT IT SOOO BADLY>>>
I knwo is last season and actually as someone said on here I will ring the outlet tomorrow to see if they have it in.

Have fun bag choosing :)

Lovely bags ladies. I have a Marc by Marc Jacobs Percy for the same purpose, I have a change bag so just wanted a small crossbody for phone, keys, hairbrush, lippy, cards and cash. I could fit a small wallet in but I just keep my cards and cash free in there.

Haha that was just like a mental list of what I keep in there to illustrate the size of the bag! I could add chewing gum, shopping lists, Ellas Kitchen biscuits... Grin

Just saw the Mulberry price increases- the Bayswater I bought for £500 in 2008 is now on at £795. Recession? What recession?!

OMG the price hike in the Mulberry bag I've been lusting after is hugeShock

I've got an Anthony which I got in the sale a few years back. I adore it, it's the perfect cross body bag and I fancied the navy one. I'm sure it was either £450 or £495 last week, now it's £550. I'd already decided it's not getting another but Christ, that's a price hike!

When I bought mine it was £160 plus postage in the sale!

Actually there are a couple of marc by marc jacobs bags that are lovely and really very reasonable. Hmmmm trip to selfridges may be in order to do some bag twirling...

Maybe I can just get DP to pick me up a fake Alexa on his way back from the middle east in the meantime...
