I know this is terribly bad planning on my part and I do have an uninspiring black dress if I can't find anything but I just tried it on and it made me feel mumsy and drab.

I'm 25, 5ft6, long dark hair with fringe, fairly pale skin, size 14 (16 if very fitted around the boobs) apple shape with big boobs, fairly ok legs and I hate my arms.

I work in Mayfair so very near to most shops but I am totally overwhelmed with choice that I don't know where to start. Budget £100-£200, dress code is black tie but I don't want a long skirt and suspect most people will go cocktail. I tend to stick to dark colours but happy to try something else, like vintage style but would have to be fairly subtle to work for this event (a 50s dress for example would be too much).

I feel like I look rubbish compared to all the pretty young things at these things so would love something that makes me feel great. Please help me wise
MNers.

Love the Reiss levento, will def go and try that on tomorrow. M&S dress is really nice but worry it might hang off boobs and make me look pregnant!

Checking out Wallis now - always forget Wallis!

Thank you.

The Phase Eight Verity dress. Truly the most flattering thing I own. Does great things to arms, waist, legs etc. Can't recommend it enough, can't find proper link nut here are some pics of it in different colours.

Ooh that does look very flattering - very Anglomania-esque. I'm going to take a really long lunch break tomorrow.

GAH! I have been to John Lewis, House of Fraser and Reiss. NOTHING!

I suspect I am too fussy. May just order a load of stuff online and return what I don't like?

What did you try on? What did you like/dislike? Did you try on the Verity, there are some similar drapey dresses from Me & Em. They have a shop in Connaught St.
