Try a peel.... you could make a mild one at home.

That sounds exhausting! I like Clinique seven day scrub with rosehip oil as a moisturiser morning and night. Then make sure you have a good eye cream and concealer and wear mascara and blusher.

you see I never wear make up co i had this idea that it makes me look older! Maybe i need to wear make up! i just saw an advert for Maybelline Fit me make up. might give that a go.

Try Bourjois Healthy Mix serum foundation - the one you mention is a rip-off of it and not any cheaper! It's lovely to use, feels nice on skin and seems to make me look awake and glowy. I don't wear much makeup but a couple of squeezes of this and a couple of swipes of Clinique stick blusher and I almost look like I've had a full 8 hours of sleep Smile

Also yy to using a scrub or something to help your skin renew itself.

Ok, I'm like a stuck record and I know this isn't for everyone but a bit of Botox works wonders. Forget creams/scrubs/serums etc. Botox is the single most transformational thing you can do when you're, ahem, staring down the barrel of 40.

Botox is a good quick fix. I managed to make my lines look much less prominent by using acids etc.

I try and buy illuminating products. I start with No 7 lift and luminate then I have been mixing my foundation with becca illuminating skin perfector but you can get cheaper ones such as soap and glory. Bourjois has a new illuminating foundation out which I would like to try. I think these illuminating products really work on mature skins as they reflect the light. Also recommend a cream blusher.

The foundation Hoop mentioned is very good - I bought it on a recommendation from MN and apply it with a Sarah Chapman foundation brush (another MN recommendation !) and I can truthfully say it is the best one I've used. Also use Bodyshop blusher which I find quite "uplifting".
When I've got dry skin (and I can still get an oily t-zone at 48) I use the OCM (loads about it on MN and Google) and I find that sorts my skin out better than any other products, I do personally use moisturer as well, but only a light one and then buff my lips with the same moisturiser on a cotton bud.

Scrub will help. If your budget can stretch to it try a clarisonic.

The other thing I've found to pick up dull skin is bliss triple oxygen instant energising mask, there's a cleanser and moisturiser that goes with it too.

eysilix instant eye rescue is fab. It's about £20 and you can pick it up in Boots. It tingles a bit but using it morning and evening after a cleanser for two weeks there was a drastic change.

Supplements too - a skin, hair and nails formula and good fish oils regularly will work wonders

If you want a super quick fix, I find that massaging oil in to my face - what ever type (I've used olive oil, bio oil, massage oil, coconut body butter) for 5 mins and then rubbing it off with a hot flannel gives me an instant boost to my skin and makes me feel better too. That, and Maybelline BB cream kept me looking quite good when DS was waking 5 times a night!

I use the caffeine under eye roll on thingy which is quite good, and I also like Clarins beauty flash balm, which i know is a bit marmite. Some people say it does nothing, but I love it. I also use a mineral powder foundation which isn't too clogging and is light reflecting which makes my skin look better.
