quick - leather look skinnies, yay or nay? I'm 38

Will I look like mutton or rocking the pleather? I've just had some delivered from Asos, sorry cant link from phone. They are basically leather look skinnies but flat fronted and zip up the back. Just tried them on and they look ok. Not too tight that my fanjo is on display for all to see but not looking too saggy either.

Had it in my head that I would wear these with black heels and a blouse type thing which would cover my bottom. Im 5ft 6 and between 10-12. However I am 38!!! Am I kidding myself on?? Needed a killer outfit for Sat and dont really do dresses. Usually wear black skinnies or cigarette pants and wanted something a bit different.

If this turns into a yay, then can anyone recommed the type of top I should be wearing?? Or is it going to be a case of go direct to jail, do not pass go and do not collect £200?

I'm thinking of a pair and I'm your age . Slim but curvy and short .. I'm not sure if I can pull it off but I like the look. No boobs on display I think is the key to not looking cheap .

Anyone who has seen me on the boards knows I will say a big yes!

Have a look on this lovely blog, she is very stylish and cleverly wears leather with lots of items dressing it up and down. You may have to trawl back through some pages, but she has the Zara leather trousers that she rocks.

Definitely get them - as long as the rest of you is toned down I think they look great.

Sounds awesome. I would go for dressed down with not-too-high-heels and a not-too-dressy t-shirt if you're feeling worried, but I bet they look brilliant.

I have just ordered my umpteenth pair of leather leggings to try - I think they have to be right when they're (ridiculously £££) real leather, but I think there are so many outfit possibilities when they're right!

Chat thanks for blog link, looks like an interesting one.

Hopefully - have you tried the topshop oxblood ones for cheapy option?

No, haven't seen them - no sign of them on the website (or, more likely, I am being thick). I have just re-ordered some Drome ones from Matches (with a discount code) that I sent back earlier in the year because I wanted ones with finished bottom hems and they have a side zip. I am resigned to getting them finished now, and if the zip breaks I will just kick up an almighty fuss!

Oh they must have sold out but were these but in a very dark oxblood.

Oh, they might have been good. Ho hum. Hopefully the Drome ones will be suitably amazing...

Aww thanks guys. The ones from Asos arent that different from the Topshop ones. Playing it safe with black though.
Do you think black suede wedges would look ok? Or would it have to be heels? Oh and thanks for the blog link x

For me, I would want the 'daintyness' of the heels to balance the rockiness of the leather. Combined with your longer length bottom covering blouse type thing, I think the heels will be lovely. Will the trousers be full length or stop short, more 7/8 length?

But, try them with both, simple all suede black wedges might work too.

Brilliant way to describe it Lechat, the "daintiness". I know what you mean and its great advice. Trousers are full length. Now all I need is the top and I have my outfit for Saturday night!!

They sound lovely. Are they from ASOS own brand? I've been after some for ages.
