please help me find a works Christmas do party dress

I live in either work trousers or jeans, ive recently started a new job and have been invited to the Christmas party
Im just under 5 ft tall, size 12 with dark hair. Can anybody help, ive got no idea what style or colour go for, my budget is about £35, I like the red sequin dresses but not sure if I'd look ridiculous
