I think it depends how you wear it. My best friend is 48 and would look great in that skirt.

What? even with dark tights?
so they are right!
DH wants me to get it!

It'll be fine with thick tights and boots. Stay away from fishnets and stilletos.

when I say dark I mean opaque

How old are your dds? I trust my 17 year old to give me honest opinions. I think it's too short - and too glossy - and too easily hookerish. I'd say no.

I think it's a bit mutton, sorry. I'm 46 - it would look a bit tragic on me. I think we've watched the leather miniskirt boat sail at this stage.

When I think of a 40 something woman in a leather skirt I think of this lovely lady.

But then again, it works for Carine, and she's older than you.

NigellasGhost · 28/10/2012 20:03

fair enough - if the leather miniskirt boat has already sailed then I will resign myself to pvc tweed

Ah g'wan and do it. My mum bought a pair of leopard print leather trousers when she was late forties and my sister (17 at the time) actually cried. Laughing you out of the house is a good sign; if there's no actual tears you can probably get away with it.

I'm 44 ..tall and slim and I still think my daughters (18 and 20) would lock me up if I tried to go out in that. They are fine with shorter skirts on me but leather would be a step tooooooo far!

So no:/

I would like to think I am slightly less haggard of jowl than Carine but sadly am defo fatter of thigh

I like it but I also think they're probably thinking it's something they themselves would like to wear ,so therfore you are forbidden.

It's the law of nature. You are not allowed to look better than them.
