I think I'm in love ...!

... with this dress

and I am 48. Tell me, is it hopeless? Am I doomed? Can't think of many "occasions" to wear it to, maybe my most pressing problem.

It's definitely not too young, if you were worried?

It's a beautifully made dress but I'm biased :-)

Its gorgeous but holy hell £299 or did I read it wrong

I don't think its gorgeous enough for 300 squid

I think it's gorgeous- buy it! Aswell as glamming it up for parties/dinner dates you could also team with opaques and ankle boots, then it would be great for lunch out with friends etc too. I think it's a multi purpose dress you wouldn't regret buying!

I really do hate flower prints - sorry. I think it looks cheap, whereas it is SO eye-watering expensive

It's beautiful but vv expensive...have you looked for a cheaper alternative or is £ not the problem?

Thanks all - £ is definitely the problem - thing is I do have the money, but I have never spent so much on any item of clothing except my wedding dress [and my mum paid for that!]

It's made of silk and I fear I will be stretching credulity by wearing it on daytime outings... especially as I live in a country town where wellies and quilted jackets are standard daywear!

I haven't tried it on - don't get much opportunity to go up to the city but next time I am there I will. Hopefully at that point it will not suit me at all and the magic will be broken! [bit like falling in love with someone online?]

Does anyone know of anything similar but cheaper? I really like the floral burst in the middle, it's a bit baroque in a way or kindof "still life". I suit black and contrasty things.

Thanks for all your comments (even the people who don't like it!) and please keep holding my hand through this!

I've a couple of dresses quite similar in style to this, both from Mint Velvet last year. Might be worth checking the MV website out, their dresses are typically about £90
