Brazilian blow dry - which shampoo and conditioner ( not organix )

Had a brazilian blow dry last weekend, I am pleased with the results as my hair is usually frizzy and fine .

The first time I washed my hair with a shampoo sachet the hairdresser had given me and it was fine. today I washed it with Organix coconut shampoo and conditioner which is sulfate free, it's now really fly away and lank .What a waste of £12.00 !
Any reccommendations for a shampoo and conditioner, budget if possible thanks

I think it depends on the the make of Brazilian you have had. Some types mean you have to avoid sulfates. The Brazilian I use just says to avoid products with salt in (I'm not even sure if any hair products contain salt?). Anyway, I use Philip Kingsley Itchy, Flaky Scalp shampoo and Moisture Balancing conditioner and they don't seem to work against the Brazilian. I'd probably go back to the hairdresser and buy what they recommend tbh, but that won't be the budget option! Using the wrong stuff and ruining your Brazilian works out very expensive though so it's worth investing in the right products ime.

is it the brasiliana one? they do their own shampoo 'uno' which is quite expensive but l'oreal have a new range out now without the sulphates. they come in a tube type of bottle, with the lids at the bottom. i think they say suplhate free. i have used baby shampoo too, i think that is ok.

you can use any conditioner because no conditioner contains sulphates.

I would, you don't want to strip the Brazilian off. It must cost ££ to get it done at a salon. My friend does mine with product I get off ebay. The results have changed my life! I know I'm shallow but it's great to be able to go out in damp weather and not turn into a frizzy mess.

neuroticmumof3 it's not shallow or no more shallow than loads of other things that make you feel better! Which product do you use ? I can't afford to have this done often and would happily do it myself at home

i've been getting it done for years and lately i decided i fancy going curly again. but i will still do the top, because my hair is frizzy. i remembering it through rose tinted specs now.

don't tell your hairdresser, no doubt she'll tell you you have to do it in a salon!

I use the Loreal eversleek shampoo and conditioner on mine. it is SLS free. I have a diy Brazilian blowdry of Ebay. tis brilliant.

colette, i've ordered that and done my own fringe but I wouldn't be able to do my whole head. I can't do it as well, and i can't make the potion go as far. but even if you only do your fringe or the bits of hair at the front of your head, you can go longer between 12 weeks. Because for me, the 12 week blow dry lasts about 9 weeks!! so i top up the fringe myself at about 10 weeks and then at about 15 weeks go back and have it done properly in the salon. I just can't afford to get it done every 12 weeks. BUT,,,,,,, it is the singlemost effective way to feel good about myself so it's worth it (sort of! )

I use the Brazilisn blow dry kit from Amazon that Kenneth has linked to and I love it. My hair is much less frizzy with it and I can either leave it in its naturally curly state or straighten it. I've got pretty long hair and find one pot is just enough.

I use Tresemme Keratin shampoo and conditioner but have almost run out do think I'll try the Loreal products mentioned above next.

Softkitty- does it not straighten your hair then? Just defrizz it?

No, despite the name, it's not a straightening treatment. It puts keratin back into the hair, thus improving the condition. I can still wear my hair curly but it's much less frizzy. If I straighten it, again it's less frizzy, looks much glossier and is easier to style.

Oh. Well that's a rubbish name for it then! I'm desperate for a straightening treatment. Boots used to do one of their own- amazing. Just like a perm but straightened hair. Worked a dream. So of course they stopped making it. Thanks a lot.

You can have straightening treatments at a salon but it costs. I had mine done many years ago when I was in denial about my curly hair but wouldn't dream of it now I've discovered the keratin product. This way, I can leave my hair curly or straighten it bang straight, whichever I fancy that day, so it's more versatile.

I've had it done in salons and it's never worked, very disappointing as it was bloody expensive. I never wear m hair curly but it just drives me insane having to blow dry and style and we're going away soon so it'd be nice not to have to faff with it on holiday all the time.

I use this aiming. Definitely need a friend to do it and a good pair of straighteners. My hair is naturally straightish with a tendency to wave/frizz badly in anything but the driest weather conditions. A nightmare in other words. I am so in love with this treatment, haven't used my straighteners since I started using it.
