Can you recommend shoes and jewellery to go with this dress?

At the age of 37 cough cough I have finally bought myself a little black dress Grin. Can anyone recommend shoes and jewellery to go with it? I don't have any black shoes, and I usually avoid blingy jewellery as I am allergic, but for one evening it will be okay. The cheaper the better really Smile

What's the event?

If you're busty I would probably not bother with a necklace as it overcrowds your decolletage.

I'd go with a cocktail ring and maybe a nice bangle.

You don't have to wear black shoes y'know... you could get coloured ones to lift the outfit a bit.

Hi TMBIOM, it's a kind of post wedding thing, so don't want anything too slinky or sexy, more glittery I think. Not the actual wedding day, so the black is ok, but I was thinking of a coloured cardie thingy. Matching shoes? Or is that horrid? Grin

mrsc: ah yes the common boob problem - a bangle sounds good though, are chunky ones in style at the mo?

Though is it not sometimes recommended that a chunky necklace can detract from bustiness?

Depends on the neckline baskets. From experience, and being a lover of chunky necklaces- a low cut top and a chunky necklace= chesty overload.
If it's a fairly demure neckline then chunky can draw attention away.

It's not entirely a bad thing, but can look a bit cheap. I am tacky as feck so it's alright Wink

Chunky bangles are never out of style but you might get more wear out of russian bangles as they can be dressed up or down.

Russian bangles are slim interwoven bangles. Timeless and classy.

Oh yes, like Russian rings except bigger! I like very much. Ya looblyoo, in fact. I've seen these in shops. I have a Russian ring somewhere -I'd like to get another more expensive one ....

And I've taken on board what you say about chunkiness and bustiness. It's all so complicated and I am sooo tired. Just as well I rarely get out these days. Hmm

I have some fine silver russian bangles, about 8 in a loop, always gets comments even thought they're the simplest looking thing in the world.

I don't get out much either these days baskets but my bosoms are threatening to take over entirely Wink

I kind of want to look cheap MrsC Smile

It is a bravissimo top but I am not super super busty and am squeezing into a size ten. If I do go for a necklace, should it be a long one like in the model pic or a shortish one?

I do have a quite nice sparkley cross but does look a bit wrongo nestled among norks. Grin

Those bangles are really nice!

I think that the long necklace in the picture ages the dress. a shorter necklace could be more youthful.

Channel your inner 'Like A Virgin' lol.

Nice, nice :) I'd say if you're matching, match cardi and clutch. Then see what shoes you like. The world of strappy heels is your oyster! Wave those norks, by jingo!

Oh blimey TMB, do I need a clutch as well? Buying a LBD causes all kinds of repercussions! Smile
