Help needed-coat crisis!

Help needed from stylish Mnetters.

DP and I are getting married on 22 December. Is second time for both of us, and we wanted something fairly low key, so we are having a (very!) tiny wedding in central London with lunch in a private room at a restaurant afterwards.

I have bought my dress- it's a gorgeous 1950s style number. White, so "bride-y" enought, without being a full on wedding dress. But, being December, I definitely need something to go over it for getting there, and to the reception.

My ideal would be a coat with a full skirt that would go over the dress, but struggling to find anything, so would also look at shorter jackets. Am pretty relaxed on colour (other than black), although in my dream world would find something in a jewel colour- a really deep red, purple or green. Am in the lucky position of to being too worried about budget mainly cos my dress was cheap as anything

Any ideas very gratefully accepted!!!

No suggestions; but congratulations. Enjoy yourself.

I wore a vintage fur wrap on my wedding day.

Congratulations on your wedding!

How long is the dress, and how tall are you? May give us an idea on what length the coat should be.

Colour is wrong but the shape of this might work - could you get something made if budget is not an issue?

Thank you all- some fab ideas! Can see I won't get any work done tomorrow as will be googling fake/ vintage fur.....

I LOVE the link from Statisticallychallenged- is just the sort of shape I had in mind. And the purple one could be a contender. Had discounted it before as didn't like the black fur, but just seen is detachable.

Am 5'4"' and the dress is just below the knee.

This isn't black, but isn't quite as wow either

I'd be tempted to find a seamstress, I don't think it would be a particularly difficult item to make.

Just to say a belated thank you for the ideas. I took Statistically's pic to a seamstress, and am having a version of it made in a lovely mulberry coloured velvet. Thank you!!!
