Best handcream?? for dry overwashed hands!

Can anyone recommend a hand cream, preferable cheap good value and one that does the job. I wash my hands regularly, unlike 38% of women apparently but this leaves me with dry flaky nails and hands that resemble a 90 year old. Is there one you can't live without? If so, please share . I'm going to treat myself to a full-on hand pamper later!

The best one is one that you will use all the time!
So my recco would be: buy one with a pump and put it where you wash your hands most, and get into the habit of always using it after every wash. Also, get good rubber gloves and always wear them when you wash up, clean, etc etc. I've got a relatively cheap Nivea one which comes in a pump and is really effective.

If you're looking for a higher-end one, I'd reccomend l'Occitane Shea Butter hand cream. Or for a handbag one, the Nivea Norwegian formula one.

The Body Shop Hemp hand cream is good.

Body Shop Hemp -is very good. As is one i get from Holland and Barrett- Dr Organic, Royal Jelly ? Both about £5/6.

i did get a twin pack of a hand cream from Costco the other day, it was about £18 for the two, and it is just as rich as L'Occitane, which I also love. Very rich.

I second wearing rubber gloves for housework too.

Wash your hands in cold water. Satifaction guaranteed. No flaky skin.

If you can, get some cotton gloves and put vitamin e (I just burst a capsule), then cocoa butter then vaseline onto your hands, so you have a triple layer, then the gloves on top, and sleep in them. Fab hands in the morning.

It's a bit hot in the summer but in the winter works well if you do it a couple of times a week and is relatively cheap.

I love L'occitane's hand cream. It is quite expensive, but lasts me ages. I have horrible dry skin on my hands, but when I use it, it works wonders. At the moment you can get a mini size tube free with Marie Claire magazine.

Garnier in the green tube. Cheap as chips (£1.99 in the cheap shops like Savers) and transformed my hands (glares at expensive, useless, Clarins stuff).

Neutrogena. I use something called gloves in a bottle too. It's not a hand cream but acts as a barrier and stops hands drying out further. I slather hand cream on top too.
Hemp oil from body shop also good.
Hand cream on then cotton gloves over the top. Moisturise while you sleep!!

I had dreadful flaky hands. I used various handwashes for sensitive skin and handcream, and they would improve a bit and then get bad again.

I switched from handwash to medicated soap and used aveeno moisturising oil after. The change was noticeable after 2-3 days. Now I just use the soap, and if I ever notice my hands starting to get dry (not often) or just when I feel like it / remember, then I will also use the oil. My hands are now lovely and soft, and don't get that horrible flaky way.

Astral. My Nana swears by it & now I do (have worked in places where I had to wash my hands 4/5 times an hour, it really helps my skin repair/not crack in the first place).
I have sensitive skin so can't use most lotions & potions.

Smells 'meh' but works a treat overnight

Superdrug "hand therapy" in a blue or green tube (pink one ok but not as rich), about £1.40 and great on my sore, overwashed hands.

L'occitane dry skin cream...smells divine. Pricey though. Body shop hemp is as good.

Aveeno hand cream is brilliant. I find body shop hemp and l'occitane a bit sticky but Aveeno is soothing and moisturises really well. I quite often wash my hands 10 times a day as a health professional and couldn't do without it

I'm the same as you op, they're always flaky, dry and cracked. Neutrogena Norwegian formula works best for me.
Body shop hemp is good but I found it greasy , can't hold anything after I've put it on!
L'Occitane is a nice treat too.

L'occitane Shea hand cream really helped me - I have painfully dry skin at times (eczema is evil) I switched to using the Shea hand and body mousse wash followed by the Shea hand cream and it's made so much difference.

Also if your nails are flaking maybe try a cuticle oil a few times a day, solar oil and opi avoplex are good,
