Is there a correct boot length for specific body types?

I love all the boots around at the moment but cannot decide on which length suits me most. I'm 5'5, size 10/12 and most definitely an apple. My legs are ok, have slim but not shapely calves. I think mid calf suits me best-would this be correct? I feel wrong in ankle boots but ok in shoe boots. What say you?
