Bloody winter boots - will they ever fit?

I recently lost a stone and I'm a definite size 12 and figured this is the year! This is the year that I will have knee high winter boots. So I duly buy two pairs off eBay - one black pair of zip up DMs and a pair of Fly brown ones. Both are flat as I need to do lots of walking about.

They have arrived and are LOVELY. But can I get the zips even half way up? Nope. I could cry. Am I really that big? My legs aren't particularly shapely, I know, but still...

If I lose more weight when will they eventually fit? Or if I wear them in will the zips ease up?

I don't know if this is any consolation but I am a size 6/8 and have tried on quite a few pairs of boots over the years that I couldn't do up. So it's not you - some boots seem to be made for people who are very tall with skinny legs...

Shock not

Maybe I should just put them back on eBay...

I have always had the same problem no matter what size I am (and I have ranged from a 12 to currently a 16/18!). It's because I cycle, my calf muscles are enormous... You could try using a shoelace through the zip pull and see if that helps with the leverage. Also wearing tights helps when you are doing boots up and maybe the leather will stretch after you have worn them in a bit.

Otherwise, I have just bought a pair of these and have been wearing them all the time. They are really comfy and fit perfectly. In fact, they come up a little big. There is a big elastic panel at the back. Not bad for the price and no blisters either Smile

Or, you could try Duo Boots if you want to splash out.

Duo Boots are fab. You order by your shoe size & calf measurement.

I have the opposite problem - I panic-bought a shit pair that are too big for my skinny legs and flap about and now I'm stuck with them. And the rest of me isn't skinny - I just have the calves of a stick insect.

I'm in boot-rage at the moment - boot manufacturers need to sort the calf-fitting issues out.
