It's terrible because in order to get the coat off in pristine condition the animal is skinned alive . The farming techniques are hideous too, animals starved so that the skin becomes loose and comes off quick.
In leather the cattle are bolt killed for meat and the hide is a by product.
I have a fur coat, great grandmothers from 1910 and I couldn't throw it out as it would be wasted.
I wouldn't buy new though for the reasons above.
I would make one myself from quickly shot rabbits though.
