What kind of coat for a top heavy woman?

I'm top heavy and am having trouble shifting the baby weight around my stomach, waist and bum. I want/need a new coat as my old one doesn't fit anymore. It was slightly loose on me 2 years ago. I never wore a coat last winter due to being very pregnant and constantly hot.

I love my old coat. I got it from Zara, it has a peterpan collar and small buttons going down the middle with a belt. It completely draws attention away from my top half. I can't find another one like it.

So does anyone know any nice coats this season they can recommend for top heavy women?
Willing to spend upto £100

Oh it's a nightmare! You have my sympathy. I tried on about 10 jackets myself on Monday and every single one of them looked shite. Why for the love of sanity can't they make jackets with waists in? Not everyone has a straight-up-and-down shape! Angry

And breathe......

Anyway, I'm still looking so can't recommend a specific coat I'm afraid but here are some rules I follow to flatter my 32H chest:

  • absolutely no double-breasted anything
  • absolutely no Nehru or mandarin style stand-up collars
  • always choose a coat with lapels, the bigger the better
  • try to look for a coat which has a noticeable waist built into the cut, so that you can see from looking at it on the hanger that the coat has a waist. This is nearly impossible by the way (see earlier rant Smile)
  • a single block colour is easier to wear than a print or check

That's all I got OP, sorry - please let me know if you find what you're looking for! Good luck Smile

I'm a 34G and agree with Lotta's rules.

How about something like this www.tkmaxx.com/jackets+coats/black-wool-coat-/invt/35128428

I have something similar for work and it's very smart and gives a very nice silhouette.

Tkmaxx has some cracking coat bargains and free returns in store for online purchases.
