Trying hard to get both DS's out of Clarks trainers. What do boys of a similar age wear instead of trainers? High tops, converse? Anything else? Thanks

Vans converse etc in the warmer months.TThen in wetter weather he wears timberland style boots or leather trainers. Brands like adidas or Nike.

DS normally has a pair of Nike 6.0 trainers on the go (bought on eBay or from the Nike outlet in Gunwharf Quays to keep the costs down).

At that age mine would be in trainers, but not CLarks ones nor designer ones - just any old trainers.

DS is 11 - he has Nike Airforces. Very hard wearing. Vans don't last 5 minutes IME.

Ds is 9. He has a pair of adidas trainers for casual and he also has a pair of timberland style boot. The adidas trainers were not bought because i think he should be in labels but because they last so much longer than shop brand stuff. He is very hard wearing on shoesGrin. He also has a pair of wellies and clarks sandals.

My ds has nice brown boots/shoes for smart and cheap trainers (generally costing around a tenner) from Sports Direct.

I'm having a wobble about how much it's costing to kit my kiddos out in shoes this winter...having done school shoes a matter of weeks ago I now need to buy slippers for 2, girl boots, boy boot/shoes, probably boy wellies and I really should get my youngest either shoes or boots that aren't hand ons...

Vans and Converse for knocking about in, I think they are pretty hardwearing and you can put 'em in the washing machine.I wash them over and over until they fall apart.

He has Nike Blazers when he isn't in mud, dirt etc

oh yeah, wellies for walking/really wet/muddy stuff (with proper woollen socks)

Trainers and (fake) converse type shoes - got some for £5 a pair in Sports Direct recently, even bought some for myself Grin.

My 10 yr old DS has the following:

Clark's school shoes
Converse lace-ups
white trainers
walking boots
wellies

And all he wears (other than at school) are his Crocs! Even in the middle of winter. It's a real struggle to get him to wear anything else, ever. I think it's just laziness, as you don't have to do them up Grin

clarks blue velcro footie-like trainers

Sorry, haven't got back here for hours. Will read all your replies and see what my boys will wear! At the moment we do school shoes, trainers for mucking about and wellies, of course. They're missing the going out, casual but smarter-than-mucky trainers shoe.

Thanks all.

My ds is 9. He hates laces. He is always in a hurry (lazy) and needs to be able to slip his shoes on and run.

I have just bought him his second pair of 'easy slip' converse. They are high tops with elastic laces. Absolutely brilliant. They were difficult to find but I got them on line from a shoe shop in Maidstone. £30.

I just bought DS (8) the hi-tops from Boden. He chose them but they're lovely. In fact, we have mucked up the sizes and I ordered him 2 pairs and he wore the smallest size and then decided they were too small so I have a pair of size 3 green ones with yellow trim worn once which i'm about to put on EBay if anyone would be interested in those?

DS2, who has quite an eye for fashion (only time I look good is when he dresses me!) found some lovely brown leather shoes by Nike. Very clever - they look smart if worn with chinos/cords but fine with trackie bottoms. Will link if I can find them online. He got them from Sports Direct, but they're not trainers.

if your ds isnt fussed about labels, ds2 who is 10 will often choose the airwalk trainers in sports direct, look very similar to nike skate trainers but lots cheaper, he also has a pair of the sports direct 'converse' which were £5.50. Hes not bothered about brands but his friends are so hes starting to want the bigger names so that his firneds don;t say anything to him.
