I know I am an all too rare visitor to S&B but I was irrestibly drawn to the phrase 'acne pistol boots'.

After extensive Googling - yes I agree they are Mum boots.

My Mum in fact has some and she is 66!

VivaLeBeaver Sat 29-Sep-12 21:14:40

They look like Pavers type boots.

ruby22 Sat 29-Sep-12 21:18:55

Yes they are very similar, it is how and what you wear with them that appears to define the 'mum' status, despite the fact that we are mostly mums. Generally from my MN reading it would seem that worn with ankle flapping bootcut jeans from Next and a cagoule will proclaim them mum boots but if you wear them with skinny jeans or dresses or little shorts then you will be ok.

Ha, thank you. I have been thinking that all these new season ankle boots are just exactly the same as the bog-standard styles Next, M&S and co have been peddling for years, seen worn with bootleg jeans/work trousers countrywide. Emperor's new clothes anyone??

BunnyLebowski Sat 29-Sep-12 21:20:06

They're minging 90's throwbacks.

But yet, because Grazia have deemed them "on trend", they get another jaunt around the laughable fashion victim arena.

Iamgiulietta Sat 29-Sep-12 21:20:30

They are horrible!

DukesOfTripHazard Sun 30-Sep-12 11:13:53

No. You're wrong. They are a lovely shape.

DukesOfTripHazard Sun 30-Sep-12 11:14:32

Mum boots have horrid square toes and flarey heels. Or just aren't angled as nicely as those.

DukesOfTripHazard Sun 30-Sep-12 11:15:03

The Divvel is in the details.

DonaAna Sun 30-Sep-12 11:15:45

All the hip, gorgeous young girls in Rome seem to wear them at the moment.

StellaAndFries Sun 30-Sep-12 11:17:51

Just googled them and they are very mum boots!

AnOldieButNotSoGoody Sun 30-Sep-12 11:19:43

Mum boots are in.

DukesOfTripHazard Sun 30-Sep-12 11:23:05

Well mark my words, anyone getting genuine mum boots out of the cupboard thinking they're rocking a look are not going to be.

And please, If they have stitching down the middle of the front in particular, just no.

tethersend Sun 30-Sep-12 11:23:16

I have been saying mumboots are in since 2010. You all laughed.

<resists urge to search through threads for evidence>

Trills Sun 30-Sep-12 11:23:38

Is nobody going to link them?

MarshaBrady Sun 30-Sep-12 11:24:11

They are different to mum boots.

I need something easy to wear that I'm not that fussed about. And half price pistols may be it. Going to try them on, not entirely sure yet they are the right shape for me. Had them before but a size too big am determined to see if the size makes a difference.

MrsSnow Sun 30-Sep-12 11:26:00

the boots

I have to confess I had a pair of these in 1998!

rockinastocking Sun 30-Sep-12 11:26:33

here

Trills Sun 30-Sep-12 11:26:45

This is a mum boot.

This is also a mum boot

Someone once called them "office boots", to be worn under slightly-too-sort polyester trousers.

rockinastocking Sun 30-Sep-12 11:27:14

Xpost.

I see what you mean by mum-boots, but they are a better shape.

MmeLindor Sun 30-Sep-12 11:33:47

Totally Mum Boots.

DonaAna Sun 30-Sep-12 12:55:05

Tether I saw a pair of genuine mum boots in Sept Vogue. Am holding on to mine grin
