I am stuck, i want a pair of DM for the winter, my DS is due christmas eve and i will do alot of walking between now and after.

Do i go for a pair of £85 boots or get a few cheap pairs, including boots, flats etc?

How long does a pair of DM last? I want the serena black ones with fur.

Okay bit biased here..DM's all the way! Look them up on the internet though..I got my origional DM's from a London based shop for £65..the local shop sells the same ones for £85. Don't know about the fur ones but the origional type ones can last years! I had one pair for 5 years.

They have fur inside the DM so its black boot with fur.

I have looked around, ebay seems to be cheapestSad In my local t-reds they are £120Hmm

I am 53. I have Docs that I went to university in. Must admit, for various reasons I'm a bit of a Docs fiend. They really will last forever.
It's only the standard lace ups that need breaking in, and not all of them. Getting them wet and then manipulating the leather at the back of the boot until they're dry (rub as if washing every half hour) helps soften them. Eighty quid will probably give you ten to twenty years of wear.

DMs! My DM Authentic wedge boots are on their eighth winter and going strong! I have them in three colours and wore them all from the box, no problem.

Its the DM it is, stupid question here...

Are they quite heavy on your feet?

They are lovely the serena ones, i would get cherry redsGrin but a black goes with anything!

They aren't heavy. They kind of adapt to the shape of your feet and ankles and hug to your feet. They are really the best boots evar! I've got a couple of pairs of the floral ones but I really want the cherry red ones for winter!

I have this pair. They are soft leather and very light.

I have a floral white pair as well, which are harder leather and need to be broken in.

Those are lovelyEnvy

How long do they take to break into? I expect i will get my skin rubbed at the back?

Any tips to break in them quicker or less painful?

The pair I linked to are very soft, and didn't need to be broken in. I was immediately able to wear them for miles with now problem.

Some of the harder pairs (like my floral pair) need to be broken in, and I'm breaking them in at the moment so can't tell you how long! I have only just bought them.

I have these beauties. They look fabulous when I'm nipping out to the shop for milk.

Seriously OP, get some DM's. You buy cheap, you buy twice and all that.

Wow. they must take some time to lace up!

Watch the quality on DMs, they are not up to the same standard since they went abroad. Make sure you see what you buy, and avoid online ideally.

Bugger me bunny my legs are shorter than the whole boot Grin!

OP, I used to wear DMs a lot when I was younger but I found I'm no longer able to wear my favourite DM sandals like these as they feel like lead weights attached to my feet. I do have some lovely zip-up Chelsea boot type ones (I think they were kids ones) that are ok and quite comfy if I have a padded insole inside.

I cant even attach the pair im getting, on my phone but they look 'tough'.

I wear a thick pair of socks the first few times, see how long it takes. I hope i dont get blisters Sad

If i saw those boots, id scare at them Envy then look away if the owner looked my way!

I wish the HQ(as i call it lol) was open in northampton, my dad has a pair of cherry reds from the 80s. I look and touchSad

Melon - I used to have a pair of those sandals. One day I looked at them and thought "why am I wearing heavy bricks on my feet?"

I still love and wear my purple 8 hole boots.

There is a factory shop in Wollaston where the HQ now is...

I got some DM boots the other week and still can't break them in, I'm too much of a wuss - I'm just looking at them sat there on the floor. Also my legs are fat atm as I'm pg so they kind of emphasise that, sadly.

I have got some similar sandals though - but with a slightly thinner sole and back strap, and they are marvellous, I kwym aboutthose, I triedthem and they are like lead weights but for some reason mine seem Ok - had them for at least 3 summers now and still great condition.

My mum Grin had some of those thinner soled sandals (sadly too small for me though) and they weren't heavy at all. I should ebay mine I guess - they weren't cheap and I have two pairs I never wear. I'd love a pair of DM knee high boots but I am very hefty of calf so they won't go anywhere near my legs unfortunately.

DMs every time.

I recently put several pairs of perfectly wearable Docs in the clothing bank because my feet have somehow become bigger.
I bought the Docs between 1989 and 1991 and they were worn every year.

I've replaced them with new Docs which hopefully will last just as well

DMs. My eldest has some that she must have worn every day for a year..
