Be honest - is it frumpy?

Hi all, i don't post often but lurk frequently and know your advice to be sound. I'm finding the school run a nightmare and am considering the Boden Rainy Day Mac in black.

But have always thought Boden is frumpy. What do you think? Am not the most stylish person but the mac seems ok to me and practical for walking to school. But I don't want to spend that muchg money and look like a frump.

I do think they are a bit mumsy TBH. I'd prefer a classic mac...

I prefer this from zara.... and it is much cheaper!

Might this be a better use of £120? Will keep you warm in the winter too.....

Frumpsville you may think but I bought the one in slate with the petal type print and I love it. Its warm, cosy, comfy, has fleece inside the pockets and it Has A Hood. A Hood.

Buy it, they are ace.

And that sludgey puffa jacket is minging. Only thing that would be good for would be for rolling up and sleeping in.

I don't get why it's called the "Rainy Day Mac" when it's only shower proof, and therefore not all that much use on said "rainy day". It's not practical enough to outweigh the frump factor, which also depends a bit on which colour. The "Dark Fawn" is a crime against fashion, skirt's one not so much Grin.

Wouldn't be warm enough in another month either.

I had one from a couple of years ago and wore it loads, and got the pewter falling petal one in the post this morning. I'm sending it back though - my old one was a bit looser fitting so worked well with a chunky jumper, this one is a bit more fitted (and sleeves seem a bit long for my short arms). Quite cosy though with fleece lining.
Also was daft to think it might fit over my bump (currently 25 weeks) - it didn't...

Morning all and thanks for responses. You have confirmed my fears. It IS frumpy.

I need a coat to throw on for school run that is black and goes with anything. I buy most of my clothes in All Saints, Whistles, French Connection and Warehouse but the latter three have nothing this season and All Saints is a bit elaborate for the school run. (I am new to the school run and didn't realise what a hassle it would be Grin ).

My excuse thinking with the Boden mac was that it wasn't that bad in plain black.

Do any of you have a black practical coat you would recommend for walking to school?

Orangina, thatnks for your recs. Am not keen on belted. I really like the Zara puffer but am worried it will add bulk. I am 5ft 8 and a size 12 but figure conscious and am worried I would feel fat in a puffer. Can't remember if it has a hood, off to have another look Smile

I would get something warm - school playgrounds are bloody freezing in winter.

Yes, warm and hooded and black so that it's easy to throw on over anything. Shouldn't be so hard to find really. But I can't find anything

Persephone I share your measurements and wear this without the belt (A shape is flattering). It's waterproof and hooded.

Hello

I bet that looks nice without the belt. not keen on the white buttons though Smile.

I have that mac, bought it a couple of years ago when I couldn't find a warm, waterptoof jacket with a hood for love nor money.

It's the most stylish one I could find and is lovely and warm. It's more waterproof than you think.
