Going on a second date to a nice Italian restaurant - its quite modern and "buzzy" rather than formal, but it's fairly upmarket. What should I wear? Mustn't involve heels!!

If you can't wear heels then you'll need to jazz it up a bit. Do you have some fancy flats?
What are your choices from your wardrobe?

Well, what I have been thinking of are:

a) black trousers with silver sleeveless top (fine knitted so not blingtastic)
b) black trousers with deep red long-sleeve fairly low top
c) black dress, knee length with tights and boots

All sounds a bit gothy written down like that, but I'm not generally goth-like in appearance (blonde, not too much makeup)!

I like option c. I'm not generally a fan of black plus colour, it can make the colour look cheap. Have you got some nice jewellery to wear with the dress?

Black trousers tend to be very office-y imo.

And I don't think tights and (presumably) flat boots would be dressy enough.

Any other options?

That's if you want to look dressy. Plenty of people dress casually even for naice restaurants.

I think the black and silver combo sounds nice. I always think silver looks lovely on blondes. Have you got some nice chunky jewellery? Maybe some heavy bangles? Or some pretty earrings to play with seductively? Wink

Agree about the black trouser point though. Maybe the silver top with some dark skinnie jeans?

I don't want to be too dressy in case I miscalculate and he turns up in jeans! So, it needs to be something that treads the fine line between too casual and too formal.

Other options? I was looking through my wardrobe last night and it is a bit desperate. Most of my stuff is either work stuff or casual weekend stuff - only been dating a couple of months and before that I lost about three stone so it's start from scratch time really. I am buying things on an "as needs" basis but as my first date was Sunday night I've not had time for a shop for this date!! I do have a long black velvety dress (close fitting) but haven't tried it on. Most of my other stuff is okay for a going out for drinks date eg pretty top to go with trousers/jeans but wasn't sure if it was restaurant quality.

Quick trip into town for something new? Oasis have some very flirty 'fit and flare' dresses at the moment.

Don't wear the velvet!! I'd go for option C, or as Yes suggested, the silver tip with dark jeans. Hope it goes well!!
