I tried to do one this morning and it looks like I've got a dead rodent glued to the back of my head.

Well Ican do them but have no idea how to describe it to you. <helpful>

Have you tried the infamous youtube for help?

I have looked for video tutorials and found some and even followed one this morning, but it was a hairdresser doing a woman's hair. Its totally different when you're reaching round and doing it yourself! sad

Gather your hair up into a low ponytail and the base of your neck. then twist it up into a twisty rope going "up" your head

When You get to the top, smoothe one side and tuck it into the twisty rope...

Or look here

I don't bother with the backcombing or the weirdy pinning at the beginning though.

THAT'S THE ONE I WATCHED! My pleat did not look like that.

I need another hand.

I use slightly damp hair to start and lots and lots of pins/grips. Twist as Shirt says and coil the end under the rope at the top. Takes practice and strong arm muscles.

OK, try This on

But instead of using a hideous 1970's "barrette" thingy just use the normal pins.
