Best anti-aging product for face?

Pseudonymity · 23/09/2012 09:23

I know they probably don't work etc. I'm lucky so far to have no lines or wrinkles at 34, which I realise is a genetic lottery really. But...what are the products that people rate? There are just so many, there is no way I'm going to buy randomly or on the basis of advertising.

I know many people use anti-aging creams, but I've always believed a very good moisturiser is key rather than anti-aging creams that, from what I understand, really don't work. I love my moisturiser & always use the same one, which is this one for day cream, this one for night cream; I also use their eye gel which I love. I don't use anti-ageing creams at all & I'm older than you. I, like you, have no lines at wrinkles at late 30s, and generally good/normal skin. I think at 34, since you have good skin, you'd be absolutely fine with a good moisturiser which you apply morning & night. No need IMO to dish out for expensive anti-ageing creams.

Oh wow, that first moisteriser is the one I use! It doesn't get great reviews for some reason but I love it.

do you really?! What a coincidence :) I love it, glad to hear you like it too. Not sure why it doesn't get good reviews?

sunscreen is your best ant-ageing product
I am 50..didn't have any wrinkles until late 40's...don't think it's that unusual but I do think staying out of the sun has helped stave off the worst damage and ageing
Other than that glycolic acid gel at night helps the turnover of new skin and hylaraunic serum helps with new generation of cells. Vitamin c is also great for anti-ageing and reversal of damaged skin but the best way to use it is in a homemade serum as the potency of the vitamin loses it efficacy very quickly.
I get the gel and serum from bravura
Ultiimately though retin-a cream is the dogs bollocks for anti-ageing.

Are you really 50, twinnygg?

Can I throw a good oil into the mix? Argan oil - I've been using it on my face (just 2 drops, warmed in hands then patted in) and my 11's have softened so much that even DH commented on them disappearing Shock :o

Oh and don't forget to really treat your neck, decolletage and hands. they show ageing just as much as your face, so treat them too. Worth the effort.

Pinot has Argan oil really been that good for your 11's? mine are quite bad.
I'd been wondering whether to get rosehip oil?

How can I get Retin-A? I don't want to order online as it's prescription only and I'm afraid of fake products.

Yep, I'm loving Argan. AFAIK rosehip is more for spotty, or stretchmarked skin. Argan is better for me.

Elemis Tri Enzyme facial wash plus Argan oil has been amazing - I use argan every night without fail and Elemis when i remember. Much, much better. Cheap as chips too, so I can use it on chest/hands without worrying about ££

IslaValargeone · 23/09/2012 11:17

Think I'll probably pass on the crystal headband and stick with Pinot's Argan oil :o

(And yes also agree with daily high SPF sunscreen)

I already have some Argan oil but says on bottle for hair wonder if it would be ok to put on face or if there are other additives?

I love the REN creams!

sorry, pressed send too soon.

I also love Balance me face oil. It is great for when your skin feels really dry, for example after swimming or when it s very cold outside, central heating inside. just use a few drops and rub in. If your skin looks a bit greasy, tap with a tissue and that way your skin ahs exactly as much "help" as it needs.

I don't believe in miracle cures, just good hydration, and NO silicones

I use rosehip oil at night, Boots 17 microdermabrasion twice a week and body shop vitamin C products the rest of the time,it has a SPF in it, my skin has never been so soft and healthy looking and my pores have reduced dramatically.... I sound like a bad advert!!
