I'd really like to get some boots to wear with skirts and dresses this autumn. Does anyonw know where I can get some that will not cost the earth, and that will fit around my calves? I am a size 14 in trousers/skirts and have size 7 feet. Thanks.

Duo boots. Pricey but worth it and will last at least 2 winters of solid wear.

OOh thanks ladies. I might have to check out those Next ones for £46. Thought I would have to spend much more than that.

Evans have wide calf fit boots, a few cyclist friends get them there as their calves are too bulky for zip-ups. Lots of places have lace-ups I think, would those do, as you could lace them as tight or loose at you needed?

I think we need a DUO sticky thread.

every year it's the same "I have fat calves, thin claves, where can I get boots to fit" smile

I just ordered some Duo boots though, and they fit brilliantly round the calf but are incredibly baggy at the ankle so they gather up in folds. Duo had been my last hope - maybe there's a specific style someone could recommend for people with skinny ankles and whapping great calves? Please?

I am currently wearing fly beam boots. I'm a 7 with big old calves. They are lovely and comfy, but not cheap (got them from javari with new season code so just over £100) They are also not for folk with wide feet - I'm a standard width and they are snug. They do love lovely IMO with my work dresses (tend to be wallis, below the knee a-line) Am a 14-16. Give them a shot - javarai do free returns smile

I've 3 pairs of Duo boots but recommend that you go to the shop- it really does help. Sometimes you can tell online if the ankles are wide- or call them and ask- they are very helpful.

Have a look on the simply be website. They do extra wide fitting and aren't too expensive

Should mention on have fat feet and the next boots fit me fine.

Merrel Prevoz have zip and lace up can't do links but get them from Spirts Direct as only £80 compared to £145 on Amazon smile

Debenhams do a range of wider fitting ones (good for the sole?)

Dr Marten do a fashion range which are good for chunky calves. I have the "authentic wedge" in several colours. Excellent boots too - my oldest pair is seven years old!

I've ordered Duo boots in the past but returned them as the quality looked so very poor. Shiny thin 'leather'. Especially for the price I was very disappointed.

Clarks seem to be doing them now as well. I haven't tried them but I am tempted.

I have had a couple of pairs of Duo boots which seem to last about 3 years each and I don't find there is a problem with baggy ankles. However, they have really shot up in price since I last bought a pair and they were expensive enough already, so I am looking for an alternative and might give Clarks a go as.

Marisota/Simply Be/Isme and similar catalogues (are they all the same owner - they look very similar) have wide calf boots so I might look there as well.
