Flat, supportive boots with removable insole?

Anyone know where I can get some winter boots with a flattish heel, which are properly supportive and you can take the insole out? By properly supportive, I mean they?re tight enough around the join between the foot and the ankle (where the strap on a Mary Jane style shoe would be).

I have to wear special insoles for problems with my foot, and I can?t get them into shoes unless the insole comes out first. I normally have to buy my non-trainer shoes from Hotter (don?t like them much but the podiatrist recommended them), but they don?t make any properly supportive boots. At the moment I can?t wear skirts or dresses when the weather is colder as all I have are trainers, walking boots or Mary Jane style summer shoes.

Any suggestions?

Some El Naturalista boots have detachable insoles but they tend to have a rather distinctive look which isn't for everybody. I've heard they are very supportive, comfortable and also well made though.

Watching with interest. I saw a podiatrist last week because my toes have been goong numb. He concluded that whilst there was nothing he could do for me in terms of footbeds he did condemn my shoes and boots and told me I needed much more supportive boots that hold the foot in place properly.

So... I need to go shoe shopping Wink

I also have foot problems and got some a couple of years ago from Josef Steibel. Beautiful leather and have lasted well

I have to wear insoles so I know what a pain it is trying to find any footwear with removable insoles. Clarkes 'unstructured' usually have removeable insoles and I bought a pair of camper plimsoles (ridiculously expensive) this summer so I hopeful when I start looking for boots they might have them, my last pair were ecco. I hate shoe shopping.

I was going to suggest the clarks unstructured range too...

I bought these yesterday. Not the most stylish but very comfy (i have other shoes in the range) and the insoles do come out easily!

Thanks, all - I'll check out some of those ideas.
