Just that really... And I'm not flush!

Boots - ankle, calf or knee high.

GoldPlatedNineDoors Wed 12-Sep-12 20:48:15

Little grey ankle boots sort of elfin shape, fleecey lined. so so warm no socks are necessary.

when I wearboots with leggigs I look a foot shorter than my matronly 5'5 in a fimble kind of way

Well I do see the point of your question - can be a bit of a dilemma, in that boots with leggings can look a bit " principal boy" if the top half is short. Ballet shoes can be a bit flimsy, sandals too cold. Converse or similar can work, depending your legs. I tend to go for boots but make sure my top is not far short of knee- length ( but then i am old....)

Gold where did you get yours?

OnlyWantsOne Wed 12-Sep-12 22:26:06

TESCO have boots like that atm

gymboywalton Wed 12-Sep-12 22:27:05

i wouldn't waer leggings
i think they are a fashion that should never have come back tbh

CointreauVersial Wed 12-Sep-12 22:28:34

Long boots.

Or ballet flats if the leggings are above the ankle and it's not too cold.

10 eyelet DMs. They are strangely super flattering, not to mention cool as feck.

GoldPlatedNineDoors Wed 12-Sep-12 22:33:52

I got mine last winter from New Look. was too heavily pg to bend and tie laces grin

Iamgiulietta Wed 12-Sep-12 22:34:57

Great long foc martens green

SideshowBoob Thu 13-Sep-12 07:07:01

Hmm... DMs. Can you wear those these days?

GobblersKnob Thu 13-Sep-12 07:17:09

DM's and wool socks = super toasty feet.

LesleyPumpshaft Thu 13-Sep-12 07:22:13

gymboywalton, it's bad when they are see through and people wear them as trousers! I wear them instead of tights during the winter, as they are nice and warm and I hate the feeling of my feet being in tights. shudders

If you have the legs, have seen lots of chunky footwear - mostly ankle boots/ wedge boots, chunky strappy shoes - combined with leggings/ black opaques / black skinnies. Ideas here and here and here and also this from last spring (not boot wearing weather yet in Central / Southern Europe).

SideshowBoob Thu 13-Sep-12 08:47:20

That's the only thing - I'm 5ft5, not big but not tall!

SideshowBoob Thu 13-Sep-12 08:49:52

Oh and I should have said - I'm talking practical, walkable (I do a LOT of walking) and last-for-yearsable.

MamaGeekChic Thu 13-Sep-12 08:58:53

Over-knee flat boots (need new ones this year as my 5yo dune ones have finally given up the ghost) or military style boots with thick socks. Will be going for coloured 'jeggings' rather than legings for winter though.

I got some lovely 'toggle boots' from lands end last year, hopefully my fat pregnant feet will fit in them as they are soooo comfy!

Or of its not too cold ballet flats.

Another DM wearer here. Mainly DM biker boots but also have a pair of 8 hole pink ones. I'd be the first to admit the pink ones are a niche market and not that practical though!

SideshowBoob Thu 13-Sep-12 09:24:40

I'd really like the 8 hole ones but am I too short?

fanoftheinvisibleman Thu 13-Sep-12 13:28:29

I'm only 5ft 2 and I think mine look great. I tend to wear dresses and leggings with them.
