...of the camel's toe? WHY am I so badly afflicted? Are my jeans too small (they don't feel it), too big, the wrong shape? I'm going to be in the market for new jeans soon so want to know where I'm going wrong.

I'm apple shaped, if that helps with a diagnosis. Grin

Thank you!

Are you pulling your jeans up too high to compensate for 'apple' tummy (I speak from bitter experience) hence creating the dreaded camel toe? Or are the jeans too low i.e hipster style which makes you want to pull then up as they may be too wide on your narrow apple hips? I've just bought some slightly stretchy new look superskinny jeans and they are the first jeans for a while that haven't given me a hint of toe!

It's tricky as an apple shape to find jeans that fit round the waist properly!

I fear you are probably right and I am indeed guilty of doing the Simon Cowell pull-up...

I'm tempted to try some high waisters and see if that helps, but might give the New Look superskinnies a go too! Thanks for your help!

I was thinking this today actually, whilst pondering whether being an apple is the WORST body shape EVER.

Even at my lightest healthiest weight there is still no discernible difference between my hips and waist. Any weight gained goes straight to my tummy, so I look like a weeble almost immediately. And my waist circumference is never healthy, even at an unhealthy BMI. And a tendency to camel toe-age. Honestly.

I saw someone today who had aligned her camel toe with her cleavage line Confused

This was a very brave thread you've begun. I hope you get the help you need. While I'm here, I've always presumed the cameltoe was from pulling trousers up too high... and whenever I see it I wonder how it could possibly be comfortable. Surely getitng all that fabric up in there can't be comfortable?

Ooer onemore, I hope I haven't opened a can of worms (so to speak...!).

Personally speaking, I can't say there's "fabric up in there"!! Perhaps I don't suffer from extreme camel toe. It's not uncomfortable per se, it just looks awful as you all know. Currently I don't wear anything that could possibly reveal said dromedary's digit, so it's longline tunics all the way. Would like to be rid of the darn thing indefinitely though.

And zwitterion: amen, sister. Grin

I've got a long body and think the bit from waist to camel toe are is especially long so I too suffer! Jeans aren't too bad for me but trousers can be difficult.

I only wear regular jeans i hate all others, don't know why anyone would want tight legged, bootcut or hippy ones. I think they look awful

I have the same problem as QueenCadbury - very long body. The gusset to waist is really long. I work best with very low rise jeans or very high rise trousers. Anything in the middle just leaves me hitching up all the time which gives rise to the dreaded Toe. I am hourglass though so no muffin top but the other problem of the very gapey waistband. It makes me look as if I have the wrong size trousers on.

Don't forget that lots of lanky types are also apples...just thin apples
They too can suffer the camel toe if not careful....

I wondered if it was to do with body shape as well. I am pear shaped so all my trousers and jeans slip down, so I don't get the CT effect.

I'm learning Twinkle, and certainly hope I haven't been disrespectful. This to me is one of those taboo subjects one must never ask about so I took the opportunity of your thread to ask my question. Smile I never imagined it could be to do with body shape. If I wear tight fitting jeans (not really something I'm into but for the sake of an example) this would not happen to me. I choose to wear trousers that catch ahold of my waist just enough to stay up as I don't like feeling penned into my clothing. I'm a pear and trousers pull around my hips such that I struggle with vpl, and refuse to wear anything other than big knickers! And, as someone above has also mentioned, I'm now a big big fan of the tunic even though it's bad for my shape, it's sooo comfortable.

Ok then, it sounds like it's a body shape thing for sure! Will let you know how I get on...

Yes I HATE being an apple - it's definitely the worse body shape Sad. And more risk for developing various hideous diseases! I agree with the waist -hip ratio thing that someone commented on - I'm still in high risk category despite now being a healthy weight!!

But we do have FABulous limbs darlings Grin

And usually good norks if separated from tummy by good scaffolding

But no arse! DonaAna gave a great link on another current thread in S and B. Apparently you need good pocket placement to escape the flat bum in jeans thing apples have going on.

Apple is NOT the worst body type - pear is the worst. No boobs or shoulders, and wide of arse/thigh. It works for JLo, but surprisingly I am not JLo.

I am a pear with a long body, and long from gusset to waist. I also have a camel toe. I mean wtf?!

I was thinking about this as my bus passed through the busy city centre and I could people watch... I think it's not about body shape but...... labia shape. No?

Report
Bunbaker · 12/09/2012 20:19

I don't think so. None of my jeans and trousers fit that snugly over that area because they always slip down a little. Maybe it is because I find very tight trousers/jeans extremely uncomfortable.

Arf at labia shape.

Good grief I'd never thought about this. Will be keeping at eye out tomorrow in town. (not that closely obviously)

A good overview of the subject on Wikipedia

Interesting point about the degree of epilation being a factor.

(Never heard of moose knuckle Hmm Maybe it's a Canadian thing.)
