I had my hair trimmed into a bob in january, since then ive had one tiny trim and highlights and my hair is only still now about 2 inches above my collar bone! if this was last year my hair would already be by my breasts now. since the new year my hair growth has slowed down and i dont know why. if anything my diet has got better, im eating fruit and veg more and always drink 2 litres of water, i also take my vitamins. so whats going on? ive also been on a product mission. 1st it was the lee stafford growth collection - didnt work though smelt nice, 2nd palmers hair gro success - actually helped abit i think but its so thick it was a nightmare to get out of hair, 3rd castor oil on roots and coconut oil on end hair treatment - again think it has helped abit but nothing major. ive just bought herbal essence split ends treatment which ill start using tonight and have been using anti dandruff shampoo as heard a certain ingredient in it can stimulate growth. no i havent considered going doctors about this, kind of trivial dont you think? but personally it is bothering me abit. also must say i rarely use straighteners. if any has been through this or is going through something similar, got any advice? would like to hear x

I don't think i can be of any help, but i have pretty much the same problem. Since i started some medication a couple of years ago, my hair has never been the same. I began loosing loads, mostly in the shower, esp when the conditioner goes on. This, coupled with colouring it too often (although hairdresser claims dying won't make your hair fall out) i was devastated to go from long thick hair to thin, dry horrible hair. I had to hair a fair amount of trim over the last couple of years, we're talking about 3" at a time.

This year I've cut back on the colouring this year, only had a couple of little trims & my hair isn't growing as much. Now, it seems it gets to a certain length and it then goes all dry and frizzy (its straight) and looks horrid at the ends.

I've tried the Lee Stafford hair growth stuff too. The Shampoo & Conditioner was terrible - really dried my hair out - i ended throwing it in the bin! The treatment isn't as bad, i've used in the past & i do think it actually works to a degree, however, it too dries my hair out.

Not sure about the anti-dandruff shampoo thing? My niece has really long, waist length hair, grown from a bob in about 3 years. She uses pantene shampoo (not a popular choice because of the silicones in it) she washes her hair everyday, BUT - she also uses a anti- dandruff once/twice a week or so - because she say its the only shampoo that gets rid of the hairspray build-up after a night out etc. Then again she is 18 & i'm nearing 40 so big difference!

I've used Herbal Essences shampoo & conditioner for split ends before, i don't recall it helping my hair grow faster, but my hair was longer then anyway.

I'll be watching this thread with interest, see if any ideas come up!

No lotion will make your hair grow they say it so people buy it! I have been asked ao many times if this shit works! Sorry to be rudeBlush

Dont OTT your hair with heats and products get a good shamp/condi.

Tigi, aussie are good brands also smell lovelyGrin

oh really? how about havinbg the ends trimmed to get rid of split ends? ive just had that done because i was told by a hairdresser that the ends can start breaking which will stop growth. is that true?

I dont think the body knows what happens to hair once it's produced it, I think that hairdresser just wanted you back every 6 weeks.

I take sea kelp (solgar is the best for this one) and brewers yeast and MSM (solgar off amazon) and this seems to help.

I have a silk pillowcase which also helps the conditon, my hair is noticeably drier in the morning if the silk one is in the wash.

My hairdresser very strongly recommends the Nioxin system, haven't tried myself, but does sound quite good.
