Jeans - I want some but need your help....

I want fashionable jeans...
I am 44, size 10 to 12 and 5ft 2

Are skinnies out - I am rather heavy of thigh
I bought some straight legged ones from Gap but feel rather frumpy in them - it could be they are a little loose and a size smaller would be better

i like the ankle grazer/ballet pumps look but don;t think it wil do me any favours
What would you advise?
