Swim attire for the hairy and flappy of thigh

Hmmm, lovely hey? I know the advice is, 'wear what you like, nobody cares what you have on'. But I do! It's not so much the chunky thigh, it's more the hair issue, hairy enough that a wax won't do a holiday and there are always black bits visible under the skin. Have tried a tankini (not that even that covers up my hairy bits) but wasn't convinced by the camel toe look and the gap between top and bottom, tummy not that bad but I don't want to draw attention to it either. Maybe darker shorts would have helped? What about actual shorts for swimming? But short ones, don't want a Bermuda look. And I only wear this stuff for 2 weeks a year so don't really want to spend a fortune. Am fairly tall, D cup and 14/16. The rest of the year I quite like me!

I had a friend who simply always wore a sarong over her swimming costume.
She had grown up in the South Seas somewhere and said everyone swam in sarongs. No idea if that's true but she looked great in it and could swim well.

Oh it's a nightmare. I discovered seafolly when I was in oz, try here: www.cocobay.co.uk/women/swimsuits-and-tankinis?zenid=4a32bb92b6a053eb571c692e94527146 Not cheap but great quality so should last. Their tankini tops are longer than most, so you don't get that horrid gap. I've tried lots of shorts on, long and short-shorts, but oddly they seem to look worse with my massive thighs than normal bikini bottoms. When I say 'normal' I do not mean string! I mean with a wide-ish side. Anyway, hope this helps!

Just wanted to say I love the title of your thread Grin

I am blessed with thighs of the non-flappy variety but I definitely have the same issues in the hair department. I basically have a little skirt made of swimming costume material that I wear over the top of a costume or tankini. It probably does look a little odd, but I'd rather people were thinking 'hmm, weird, a woman wearing a skirt' than 'good lord, look at the pubes on that Shock' Grin
Will try and get back later to link to one Smile

Legsuits

I have a nice one it it's really quite flattering; there are more options than what is just on that site too :o

(This is what I have; bonus; it has boob support Wink)

Legsuit? They're pretty much all hardcore swim training style, rather than holiday-ish, if that's a concern. Or plain cossie with short women's boardshorts over the top? I've seen quite a few young girls pull off this look with panache, your height and shape might mean you can too (personally I am short of body and large of boob and suspect I would look a mess).

BHS do skirtinis (bikini bottoms with a skirt over it) and shorts in their mix and match swimwear range.

I wear board shorts (like men's swimming trunks but shorter and nicer patterns, they don't cling which is v flattering), and a bikini top or sports crop too thing for more serious swimming. Far and away the most flattering look for me.

When I was a size 14 I used to wear a pair of board shorts and a tankini top or a swimsuit underneath and it looked quite cool.
Likw these

Gosh, lots of ideas already. I'd always liked the skirt idea but sort of thought they were really for the over 70's..... but WoW I know what you mean! The legsuits are interesting though, quite cool really. Not great for tan lines though - fortunately I wouldn't be sunbathing as such. GwenGotLost, I like yours, so did everyone else I see. I wonder what they look like on non-model shaped women.....?

While I'm not particularly fussed about what I look like, growing up under the hole in the ozone layer has made me super cautious about the sun. I regularly wear a thin top like this and swim in it too. DD has inherited my uber pale skin and does the same. Where I come from it's fairly common to see people wearing such items in the sea

I wear these //www.ukswimstore.com/p-1019-bohn-34-length-swim-leggings.aspx with bright coloured tankini tops. The leggings are great, really comfortable and well made. They don't give me camel toe either.

I second bohn. I have the shorter shorts though, sit just above my knee. And I just wear a rash top!....I wear it because I get burnt really easily!

I bought swim skirt and tankini from Landsend. Try are excellent. I love the fact that I can walk happily around the pool without worrying, and even wear to walk into town or shops on hols

Cunning I also wear a rash vest or one of lion in the suns jackets, swim suit material zip throughs. Brilliant undone over a tanki when watching toddlers, you end the holiday with skin on your shoulders.

Best for swimming is an o'Neil swim shirt, but I can't find another. Thinner than a real rash vest and a lower neck.

I need some board shorts my fat legs rub togetherSad

M&S do at least 2 skirted swimsuits. Last year they did only one, so they are becoming more popular and available from other places too.
I've seen a few in my local pool recently and they always look good.
