Mulberry Daria - brand new and zip is broken

My wonderful DP bought me a Mulberry Daria on last week. It was a complete surprise and I was so excited that I finally had one. I have always wanted one so was over the moon with it.

I haven't swapped my bags to use it yet because I was to buy some smaller little bags to put pens, make up etc in so i don't ruin the lining. Anyway yesterday I took it out of its packing to have a look at it again and the zip is broken. It gets stuck halfway.

He took it back to the shop and they offered him a replacement but the one they offered was the display one. He asked for a new one and they are going to get one in for next week, so it's all ok and easily sorted.

I was just shocked and a bit let down really - my first Mulberry and it was broken Sad. It burst my bubble a bit!

Anyone else had this bag and had any problems with the zip?

Hi no experience of the Daria but will empathise as my first mulberry ordered from their website was faulty too and it was v disappointing at the time.

I'm assuming you have the hobo? An option might be to get the daria satchel instead if you now have zip anxiety? When I got the faulty bag I have to say their customer service in sorting it out was great on the plus side. They are also meant to be very good at repairing and replacing during the warrantee period.

Your DP sounds totally fab. Did he get you the specific bag you wanted or did he just know you wanted a Mulberry? If the latter you could see this as an opportunity to change style and/or colour without hurting his feelings - every cloud and all that!

Thanks for the reply but sorry you had the same experience.

They were good and offered the exchange no problem, although at first they offered the display one. They are ordering one in now for next week. It is the hobo yes.

DP is rather fab, he knew I was hankering after the Daria hobo - we were looking at it the weekend before. It is brilliant for me as an everyday bag although I also love this:

Which one have you got? All this disappointment is worth it though because I love it.

Nice bag, good choice. I have a baywaters and love it even though it's 6yrs old now and going strong. DP bought me a large Anthony messenger for my bday. Love that to. Customer services have always seemed fine to me. I lost the padlock and they sent me a new one! Have u visited one of their factory shops...?

I am the pissiest consumer ever (in the past I've successfully taken Aspect Maintenance to court and reported Anya Hindmarch to Trading Standards, amongst other things), but I have to say Mulberry's customer service is superb.

I once had a leather jacket that started losing its dye - it was 18 months old and all I wanted was a re-dye. They sent it away but it was returned because it couldn't be done. So Mulberry gave me a full refund. For a jacket I'd already worn for two winters!

Sometimes design details and supplies go wrong in any business where you don't have 100% control of the components, so if you have the fear about the Daria I'm sure they'll be reasonable about refunds or swaps.

The ex-display thing is a bit Hmm but then again they probably only wanted you to have the problem solved. It's not like they get used - I've seen the display bags being polished at the beginning of each shift. I don't think I've polished any of my own bags in years.

The bag you linked to is absolutely lovely. I have an Alexa and a Heritage Bayswater satchel so that is really the sort of bag I love. If you like the styling of the day bag I would suggest you consider an Alexa as I think they have quite a different feel to the Daria (whilst being a tad cheaper than the gorgeous bag you linked to). Another possibility is to hang on til the summer sale when you may pick it up with 30% off as it is seasonal. I might be in the queue with you though...

thomas - that is brilliant about your leather jacket. I am calmer now! Their customer service was great - they have ordered a new one without any questions and I will get it next week.

I haven't been to an outlet shop yet, but think I will take a trip to one. I have the Somerset zipped purse and my mum loves it. I may see if I can get her one for her birthday from there.

Mysteryfairy - lucky you - I like those bags that you have, gorgeous. Infact I like all the ones mentioned on this thread. I love the Daria for everyday. I also now need the one I linked Grin. Do you prefer the Alexa to the Daria? How is the feel different. I have had a look at the Alexa - I love the oversized one in grey too.

I think the alexa has a slightly younger feel. I have to admit though the daria looks less faffy to use every day - I am always fiddling about with straps and keys to close my bags.

The grey alexa is gorgeous. It's another one I would be very tempted by in the summer sales. I love your taste!

It's worth keeping an eye on shopping threads on the purse forum as they always know exactly when the sales will start and for the seasonal colours the discount is well worth having.

Thanks mysteryfairy.

While we are on the subject do you know the best place to sell a Louis Vuitton clutch bag? In fact I may do another thread.
