Just used some for the first time today, and OMG! It has taken 5 years off me, at least.

Yay! Grin

I bought some No.7 primer at the weekend, in the 3for2 thing Boots have on. Was just browsing and decided to try it.

Put a bit on just now before foundation and it does everything it says on the packet. I am amazed.

And smooth.

I still have a £5 voucher somewhere. How much is it? Is there different shades?

OMG me too! About a fortnight ago, I read somewhere that someone used Sudocrem as a primer, and as I had some in the house anyway, I put it on my face 5 minutes before foundation. At least ten people have commented on my clear skin since then, and make up stays on my face all day! It's ace!

Barbra Daly from Tesco is cheaper and is fabulous (blesses the guru that is mrsmartin for the recommendation)

I was amazed what a huge difference primer makes too. Ive been using YSL but have gone with Mrs Martin's recommendation too and find Barbara Daly's from Tesco just as good and over half as cheap.

I use one from Avon - possible called Magix? - I like it to even out my skin and never bother with foundation.

Agree - it is amazing stuff - i sometimes just wear it without any other makeup and it seems to smooth the skin

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2012 18:32

So how does it help? Tell me the science bit. Smile

ggirl · 15/03/2012 18:34

it's silicone based so creates a smooth layer going over the skin

sometimes causes spots on me

Sudocrem as a primer you say....? Does it really work? Or will I just look and smell like a greasy babies arse all day?

Report
Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2012 18:36

Oh right, sounds like I should give it a try. I have nothing to lose. Smile

BelleEnd · 15/03/2012 18:37

I hope I'm not smelling like a baby's arse, but my skin is certainly as smooth as one... :o

Primer is fabulous. In fact I sometimes just wear primer. My preferred brand is L'oreal studio secrets

I was just about to ask if I could use primer without foundation. What does it do? I mean how does it change the way your skin look?

Report
prettymum · 15/03/2012 18:40

BellEnd please can you explain how you use sudocrem as a primer, I have that in the house so can experiment.

Report
BelleEnd · 15/03/2012 18:43

I just put it on my face in the morning, rub it in a bit so I don't look like Michael Jackson, and leave it for about 10 mins. Then I put on my makeup as usual. It's ace.

I went to Tesco with the sole aim of buying the BD primer on MrsM's recommendation and they had sold out, damn you lot! I came out with their Face Lift cream and foundation though, and they are amazeballs, have used daily - no more Doublewear pasty skin for me Smile

bigkidsdidit · 15/03/2012 19:13

I'm trying hat tomorrow! Does it not drag rubbing it in?

Hope I don't smell like bum all day

Report
Bangtastic · 15/03/2012 19:16

LOL Bigkids... me too, will report back! I can imagine having a claggy face all day, and looking slightly patchy come the end of the day, but we'll see!

But to me Sudocrem is associated with bum smells IYKWIM. But I am going to try it anyway. Grin

I love seeing a primer convert :o It really does make a huge difference!

I use a Smashbox one and love it, suits my needs but I wouldn't mind trying the
No. 7 one. Might give it a go next time I need primer. Definitely will try the sudocreme too.

hetty yes can be worn without foundation. I wear mine alone when I'm doing something active. Primer smoothes fine lines slightly, reduces pores and generally just makes skin feel and look better. You can also get primers that target specific needs (redness etc). It's especially good if you will be outdoors as it provides a layer of protection between your skin and the elements!
