Hi all- I know this isn't much to moan about really but my b*** hair is getting me down. It is v fine v straight and soooo greasy. If I want to look ok I have to wash it every day which makes it flyaway, lank and dull. I mostly resist the temptation to wash it every day and tie it back but never go more that alternate days without a wash. I have booked a cut and plan to have quite a bit off the length which should help a bit but has anyone found a good shampoo for us chip pan heads?!!

Have you tried a freezing cold rinse (proper teeth chattering style where you feel the icy water numbing your scalp) after washing?

What shampoo do you use? Are you using the size of 10 pence piece amount i.e not lots of product? Have you ever tried a pre-wash cider vinegar rinse? 1/3 cider vinegar to 2/3 water, soak hair, leave for a minute or two, then wash as normal, remembering the freezing cold rinse at the end.

Do you leave your hair to dry naturally?

I use t gel shampoo and a very light conditioner (timotei at the mo cos was on offer at the Spar Blush)

I have found that batiste dry shampoo works well

daily washing can, counter-intuitively, send my hair into grease-producing overdrive

I have suffered with ridiculously greasy hair since early teens and now 49 it is as greasy as ever, between me and my teenage daughter we have found, Lush I love Juicy the best one (also Paul Mitchell number 2, close second) neither of them cheap but they are both very concentrated so you don't need much and they actual leave it clean!

Aveda Mint and Rosemary.

Buy it online by the litre and then the price is normal and not eye-watering.

I have acted on the throwaway comment of my new hairdresser and started to use conditioner only on the ends of my hair - it gives me another day between washes.

Not a shampoo but have you tried getting highlights at the roots of your hair? I always find the highlights dry my naturally greasy hair and make it lighter.

I didn't rate the Aveda Mint & Rosemary at all. I use Aveda Shampure every day & the T Gel for greasy hair once/twice a week. I often use Batiste too.

i love pantene it the only shamoo that will let me go more than one day without washing, the original is the best some of thier other types, eg smooth and silk makes my hair go greasy.

also try dry shampoo, its my life saver, not only does it make your hair look clean it gives you a little extra volume, so you hair looks nicer.

You can always add a little bicarbonate of soda to your shampoo - I do this now and again & it's very effective.

I only use conditioner on the ends of my hair and use dry shampoo in between washes

I've been using the Tresemme dry shampoo recently - it's a lot lighter than batiste at double the price - but I prefer it.

Pantene light and Elvive light (the pink one) are ok, but I can't go more than a day between washes.
