Knee boots for the wide-of-calf

I'm looking for a good pair of knee-high boots in a wide calf fitting.

I've looked at boots from Evans, but my feet aren't wide, just my calves so my feet just flap and slide about in them.

Preferably leather - Ideally not over £100.

Any suggestions of where to look next?

Have you tried any of these? I usually struggle with high boots, but have a pair from Clarks that I can zip up!

I picked up a pair in ASDA last week. Leather and only £38. I have massive calves so I don't even know why I tried them on, just a passing whim, but lo and behold they fit (just) and I'm well pleased. They're on the George website just now.

TBH you may struggle to get a "good" pair for less than £100. I'd been looking for ages and had resigned myself to eBay. Next year I'm going to save up all summer for Duo ones.

Not sure how much Duo ones are but you could try there. Clarks and Gabor tend to be quite wide fitting and also some from M&S in a reasonably priced range.

Hmm I may up my limit to the low hundreds for a good pair. I've made the mistake over the last years of buying cheap and end up with horrible flappy boots that squeak. This time I want to spend the funds on something that will last.

There was an ad on tv for tailor made boots to fit calves recently... I just can't remember what it is

I'm generous of calf too and the Fitflop boots all fit really well. They are pricey though.

If not, then I have a pair from Jaeger that are fab. Or the stretch boots from Marksies that have been sopied everywhere are ultra flattering. Spesh with the stab heel.

Just got my first pair of Duos and am very pleased. Was lucky because I was able to go into their London shop to try on, where they have all styles and sizes and a very helpful assistant measured my calf for me. The instructions for doing it on site look pretty thorough though. On sizing, I usually take a 41 and their 41 fits well, so true to size I'd say.

Agree with Duo - I have a pair which cost me £150 eight years ago - they re re-soled and well polished every winter and are still going strong.
Next have a good selection, and Clarks do some of their best-sellers in a wide fit.

I have a pair of Duo boots that I bought on ebay a couple of years ago. Still going strong but I might need to get them resoled this year. Well worth spending out the extra cash I think.

Thanks all. Its just so tricky to get it right. You either get wide calves and flapping feet of snug feet and can't get them past my ankles.

I have these They are now on year 4 of pretty constant wear. I resole and reheel them every year and, in terms of cost per wear, are the most cost effective pair of boots or shoes I've ever shod my huge hoofs with.

I second polyhymnia's point though. If you can get yourself to one of their fitting stores, please do. The assistants are wonderful and will patiently try on multiple boots in multiple fittings until you have the perfect pair. I've never had the hard sell from them either.

M&S have wide calf boots which I can even wear over jeans. And my calves are very chunky shapely. But they're not wide fitting in the foot. Definitely under £100. Can't link as on phone unfortunately but will try later
