What's a good weight for 5'4"?

I'm not going to say what I am, because I don't want people being kind Grin I genuinely want S&Bers views on what is a nice weight for my height. My frame is small/medium and I have natural (i.e. before fat!) boobs and hips. Thanks!

I would say about 9 stone or less?

I'd say about 9 stone too. I am a very similar height and shape to you, by the sounds of things; used to be 8-8.5 stone as a young whippersnapper but think that would be too skinny now. Currently a bit over 9st after years of being 10.5st, and I look so much better.

anything from 7 stone 10, to 10 stone 5, according to the good ol' BMI index.

Sigh. I was 7 and a bit at age 18...

I'm 5'4" and between 8 1/2 and 9 stone is right for me

I think around 8st 12lbs is considered a 'good' weight (at least according to my Wii Fit!).

Of course it is all very subjective - most important thing is that you feel happy and healthy with your weight .

Depends how old you are.

I think under 9 stone and your face will suffer a bit if you are 40+.

I am 5'3" and would be ecstatic if I weighed 9 and a half stone but then I am a natural endomorph and have never been less than a size 12 in my life (except when I lived exclusively on coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs).

i'm about that height, my frame is small and i'm a (bf-ing) 34B. I'm weighing in at 8 stone 2 pounds at the moment but expect to put back on a couple of pounds when the bf-ing ends.

Before I was preg I was a static 8 stone 5lbs. I'm 40 years old so I've naturally put on some since my 20's.

Thanks everyone. I basically agree, I think about 9 st. I'lltell you what I am now - about 9st 10. Had a baby 11 months ago, so no real excuse for the extra. But here's the thing - I don't think I look overweight, particularly. What I mean is, I can see I need to lose about 2 inches off my waist, but would that really equare to 10lbs? Also, I don't eat that much and I do a reasonable amount of exercise, so HOW am I going to lose it without starving to fainting point???

I'm 5ft 3" and need to lose a stone (had a baby 6 weeks ago). I'm fittest/healthiest at just under 9 stone.

Olivetti, ignore the scales. Eat well and exercise, maintain a healthy waistline and trust your energy levels and shape more.

What's a healthy waist measurement though?

10lb of fat would probably be 2 inches from your waist if it was ALL fat and no lean muscle.

To answer your question I am 5 foot 5 so only one inch taller but I look and feel pretty great at 10 stone but I have a reasonable lean mass (in that I am quite strongly built in muscle)

(I'm not 10 stone at the moment but working on it!)

I am 5 ft 3 and weigh about 8 stone 4. Sometimes go down to just above 8 stone and occasionally reach 8 and a half. I think my weight is fine but I badly need to tone up!

alarkaspree · 19/10/2011 13:54

9st 10 is in the healthy weight range. So if you think you look fine, you really are fine.

I am 5ft 3 and at 10st my waist looks fine and my legs look fat. If I lose more weight my top half gets thinner and my legs still look fat.

it depends if you do any exercise or not, better to weigh more and have some muscle tone.

I go to the gym and go swimming twice a week. My jeans have got looser and all my clothes look better, but my weight NEVER shifts!

9st is a healthy weight, as lots of posters have said.

The thing is, 10st is also a healthy weight and if you are happy with what you look like, and take exercise, there is no reason for you to diet.

I would say go on your bust/waist/hip measurements more than weight, because as we all know us ladies are fantastic at having extreme variaties of body shape even when we're the same height/weight.

I'm 5'4 and my extremes are from; 7st & a half (looked underweight), 10st (was training & had legs that Chris Hoy would be jealous of).

Most comfortable when, pre-pregnancy, I was 8st 10lbs and 36-28-36 (although I could've done losing a few inches off my tum)!

im 5"3 and 9 and a half stone. in the last few months ive started exercising a lot and people keep telling me ive lost loads of weight. ive actually only lost a few pounds but have obv toned up a lot because of the exercise. so i agree with chestnut, a few more pounds with muscle tone is fine too.

I'm just slightly under 5'4 and weigh around nine and a half. I think I'd probably look better at closer to nine, but I'm not too unhappy as I am. In fact I'd happily weigh more if it went to my bottom instead of my middle

I think weight is kind of irrelevant as a stand alone figure - you need to take into consideration size. I am now a good 10 lbs heavier than I was in my early 20s, but am smaller than I was (in measurements, not vanity dress sizes). This is probably because I did no exercise in my youth and now am a bit of a gym bunny and am a lot healthier (as in I eat proper, nutritious) food.

You also need to think about dress sizes. I'm 5'3" with broad shoulders and if I go much under 9 stone I'm still too big for size 10 jackets or fitted dresses but going under a size 10 for trousers and skirts.
