If I order 4 pairs of boots I can send the 3 I don't want back right?

Yes, but do they have free returns. Postage for 3 pairs of boots could be pricey...

Glad it's not just me then. The boots I wanted in Office are sold out, so I've shortlisted 5 pairs and thinking seriously about ordering all of them !!!

Then go ahead. You'd try on four pairs in the shop if you weren't sure, so why not.
