Like a Mum Boot, but not a Mum Boot - help needed please!

Please help! I start a new job this week, and have identified a gap in my footwear wardrobe.

Yes, I need something that is like a Mum Boot, but not a Mum Boot. It needs to be black; ankle or calf length so can go under long trousers; it needs to be comfy so not too pointy and have a mid height heel that has a chunk to it.

God I sound boring, don't I? I do have nice things, honest, but I also need a boot for those blaaah days when I have to stand or walk for long periods of time and wish to avoid cold feet. I don't want flat boots; that would need a whole new trouser wardrobe. And I like my clothes.

So: please please help. If you don't, I shall be forced to buy THESE, the superlative Boot of Mums, and front it out.

Oh, job is quite senior, slightly creative role in a corporate environment. Budget is ideally <£80, but up to £100.

What about these?

I think the gold heel makes them unmumsy.

noddyholder Sun 09-Oct-11 16:10:50

Frances those are v cool

HazeltheMcWitch Sun 09-Oct-11 16:13:05

Ooh, I like them...

Cybbo says Mum boots are coming back.

HazeltheMcWitch Sun 09-Oct-11 16:27:57

Coming back, are they? Well, maybe I'll get the TS boots AND the Mum Boots and be avant-garde...

BikeRunSki Sun 09-Oct-11 16:28:16

Oh please Hazel no, they are dreadful (and I am 40 and about to launch into a year of being a SAHM/mat leave).

noddyholder Sun 09-Oct-11 16:31:49

these are a bit 'mum' but are very very nice irl

HermanMumster Sun 09-Oct-11 16:39:07

I have the gold heeled boots, they are fab smile

How about this or this

HazeltheMcWitch Sun 09-Oct-11 16:48:41

Ooh! I like those three, Tethers, but the first ones have it I think - the heel height will work best for me and my trews. May have to try those and the pretty Toppers ones.

Noddy - think £190 for boots for a blah day is a bit steep for me, pretty as they are!

VerityBrulee Sun 09-Oct-11 16:49:34

I nearly bought noddy's COS boots, they are v nice in RL

SunnilyEnough Sun 09-Oct-11 21:24:39

whiteoleander Sun 09-Oct-11 22:30:56

The Ash ones are looovely! But these are my boots to go under trousers on a blah day, no way I'm spending £160 on them!

ponders whether I need those boots for other boot occasions, however...

I know these blow the budget but you could wear with skirts, dresses and trousers...

Right, today I bought the TopShop ones with the gold heel, and they are lovely, so thanks all! I also got some heeled chelsea boots, which are honestly nicer than they sound!

Am loving the golden-heeled ones. they're for days when I just can't be bothered, remember, and I do often wear lots of black then. Am oddly happy that I will appear to be all in black, but NO! I will have a golden heel instead, like a, er, slightly gilded ninja.

The gold heel ones are gorgeous.

I have mum boots and they are about to wear out so I'm going to glam up a bit with my next pair.
