Maybe too warm? I have a ighter one and it was fine last winter. Some people on here bought the ARctic nd had to send it back as it was too hot.

It depends how much walking about in the cold and rain you intend to do I suppose.

DH bought me the shorter jacket version 6 years ago and it has been worn to death every winter up until the last one when it was starting to look tired, (fur trim worn and belt broken but could be replaced). So say, conservatively, 20 days x 5 months for 5 years, makes cost per wear 50p if it cost £250. North Face is great kit, the best for bad weather, I was always warm and toasty and IMO, it looked pretty good. If you need this kind of jacket and you like it then yes, it is worth it!

I bought the north face insulated grace last winter which is similar, lighter and without the furry hood but pretty cosy, waterproof and windproof plus a bit cheaper. I love it. And I live in the cold, wet, windy west of scotland...

I love mine but it was £225 last year Confused
It is for VERY cold weather though - I have a charcoal Insulated Merrell Wakefield for in between. Both will last me years .

I have one, although it didn't cost me that much last year, I think it was about £200 from Taunton Leisure.

It was the dearest item of clothing I've ever bought and the best. I feel the cold dreadfully and it made such a difference. I was warm enough in a long sleeved T underneath it. It isn't a fashion item, it has to be said, but it does have a bit of shape and an elasticated bit at the back to draw it in. But tbh I'm a size 18, so any coat isn't going to look glam. A more glam friend has it in winter white and it looks nice, I've got boring brown as I know I'd never keep the white clean.

It's also a good length, I'm 5'10" and have trouble finding women's coats that cover my bum, the parka is about 10cm-ish above my knee.
