Gripped by Boot Anxiety: Can you wear black tights with dark brown boots??

Please help. Keep dithering over whether to get black or dark brown as my long boots for winter (dark brown would match my Lucia bag!).

Is it OK to wear black tights with dark brown boots - with, say a knitted dress in another colour, like this - I have the blue shown:

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Knee-Length-Dresses/WH287-DBL/Womens-Cadet-Pleated-Hem-Knit-Dress.html?NavGroupID=4

Looking at Boden site answer seems to be yes - but what do you S and B experts think?

Yes, I wear black leggings and tights with my dark brown boots.

Yes, You Are Allowed.

I find black boots slightly creepy, anyway.

I have been wearing grey tights with my brown boots. Black does look ok but prefer the look of the grey.

Yes you both can and may.

I would wear black tights with brown boots and vice versa, but I wouldn't wear that dress with black anything.

Never wear colour with clack.

Lol at 'clack' black.

Mmm, all very helpful. Guess for that particular dress would be good to wear dark grey tights with dark brown boots (as suggested by jumpyjan).

Do others think 'never wear black with colour' is an absolute rule, though??

I like navy with brown boots but not with brown boots and black tights, only with navy tights.

I think black tights and GREY dress/skirt/toga/whatever looks good with both brown and black boots. Pref brown boots but the accessoires need to be spot on. With black boots it's easy.

I wear a lot of grey. Have overthought it possibly.

I think dark brown is more neutral than black and much more versatile. I think black tights, brown boots and a navy dress would be just fine but I'm weird like that. I like mixing up a bunch of neutrals. Don't mix black with brights though; 1990's alert.
Get yourself a pair of Spanx Two-Timin' (sic) reversible tights; they are black on one side and brown on the other and are AWESOME.

Don't like brights anyway.

Ths Spanx sound mmm interesting!

Have decided on dark brown boots. Thanks to all for the comments so far.

I'd go for brown boots over black too. More of a neutral and more versatile. And yes, you can wear black tights with them, but I wouldn't wear black tights with that colour blue dress.

Sorry, just seen that I repeated Popbiscuit almost verbatim!
