HELP!! HAIR DISASTER!! OH, PLEASE HELP!!

I had my hair dyed yesterday. I went in for highlights, and the hairdresser advised me that my hair was too short at the back and they would go dotty, so she said she would do an all over blonde colour to lighten my hair and act as a base colour, that I then could have darker highlights on top of.

She then basically bleached my hair and left me like that

I've tried to like it and I don't. I just don't feel like me. I want to cry every time I look in the mirror.

The thing is, I'm a teacher, I'm basically going through hell in my private life and this is the nail in the coffin of my confidence. There is no way I can walk into school on Monday morning looking like this.

If need be, I'll have the day off on Monday and throw myself on the hairdresser's mercy. I have a stinking cold anyway, and what with what's been going on at home, most people wouldn't think twice about ringing in sick.

Thing is, I have a massive guilty conscience and I know my deputy head uses the same hairdresser as me. You can bet your bottom dollar I'll get found out

So, are there any hairdressers out there who can recommend a good home colour kit to make me look less ridiculous, or does anyone know of a good hairdresser in the York area who is open on a Sunday?

See if hairdressers is open today, if not go into York and have coloured over.
It probably isn't as bad as you think and sometimes a change can take a little getting used to.
Wash it first and style it yourself and then decide

They should have some kind of colour/bleach neutraliser thingy that can help undo colour mistakes - and then they can dye it darker again.

Friend of mine, her DD bleached her dark brown hair, friend went ballistic and they used a darker dye to put it back - it did work, no pink or green bits, her hair became a lighter shade of brown but not the awful bleached colour.

I've never dyed my own hair before, but I'd be willing to give it a go.

What should I use?

There's stuff in boots called something like colourB4 it takes the colour out and then you can put what you like as a new colour over the top.

rockin, it IS fixable. honestly. Phone around to see if there are any hairdressers open - best bet would be in a shopping centre/department store - and go and cry at them. :)

Ok, I did this myself once by mistaking a bleach highlight kit as all over blonde colour :o I went to a salon as I darent do it myself again, but the outcome was they used a semipermanent in a light brown, like the Iced Coffee Casting by L'Oréal. I think you could safely do this yourself if salons all closed, but I bet there is one open. Is also complain strongly to original salon. Colour before won't help if Its been bleached, I think, all it did when I tried to strip my plum color was make it orange!

I've been going to the same salon for about fifteen years, it's very stressful to change. Just never had that particular lady before.

This is awful. I know it seems trivial,but it's just awful.

Can I justify a day off work on Monday, considering am also ill?

I'd try the semi at home, honestly, it'll tone it down. Or look for a mobile hairdresser for today. I cent believe she's left it looking awful after youve gone there for so many years though :o

I'd do the mobile thing if I knew of any, but I've only ever seen old-lady perm type hairdressers do mobile around here.

This is fixable, and you can do it yourself.

I need more information. What colour is your natural hair? Was your hair tinted (painted on colour) before she "bleached" it? Or had you only ever had highlights?

The stuff she applied all over your head yesterday, was it a blueish or dense whiteish paste, or did it have a beigey or yellowy colour to it, or can you not remember?

Finally, how would you describe your colour now that she has done this? Is there a celebrity pic you can link to that gives a reasonable representation of the colour it is now?

Finally, what colour do you want to be, and are you normally? Can you link to a pic of what you want it to look like?

Do this research for me and I will tell you what box dye to use and I promise you will walk into work tomorrow feeling absolutely fine.

Forget about getting to a hairdresser today, there won't be any available at short notice who work on a Sunday, and if there are, you might wonder why thhey are so desperate for work

Lets concentrate on getting your colour right at home, even if you have to buy 2 different box dyes and do strand tests for each to determine the best result. I've helped lots of people on here get their right colour, I reckon I can help you too.

Just to add, "colourb4" is a great product and there are various photos of me on my profile having used it but if you are too light or too bright in colour in terms of blondeness, it won't help you, its to remove strong dark colours or the wrong red or colour build up etc.

I have tried the colourb4 and although it is a good product. Like tatty has said, I don't think that you need it, as it will take you to the lightest colour you have been.

You could try and get some silver shampoo, I think Lloys chemist sell it, it basically tones down your hair, they have one that you can only use twice a week but will take any brassiness away. May help until you can get back to the hairdresser. Also, colour does fade and blend better after a few days, so you may find it will get better.
