Oil cleansing method - does this theory work on hair?

Is there an OCM equivalent for hair? I've been using grapeseed oil on my face and have been really impressed. I wondered if the same theory applies to hair? And if so what would you use, the same type of oils or something else?

there's the   no poo method

there are a few threads about it on here but I think it's the 'girly girl' method where you just use conditioner.
