Dukan-y thing. so just proteins (lean ones, like chicken, fish, eggs) and lots of water.

Works like magic.

Hello, I managed to lose a stone in two weeks just before I got married - kept it off for almost 10 years! The heart foundation diet, unlimited veg soup and every day you have something else - steak, baked pot, bananas, fruit. I will have a look and give you a link.

To be honest people thought I was crazy as I thnk dr's put patients who are obese on it before they have a heart op - I went from a size 14 to a size 10 Smile

Dukan works. Boring as hell, but works.

Best way to do it is to just eat as little as possible for a week or so! It's not healthy and you need to make sure you dont over eat once you start eating normally again but its a good head start

the quickest for me was Atkins. Not that I have the will power these days.

If you want to get pregnant soon, you should be concentrating on healthy nutritious food and exercise, not crash diets.

Ellan is right.

Running does it for me. I have been trying to shift this last stone of baby weight for years now and no amount of wacky diets has come close to achieving it.

Running is getting me there though, the only thing that's worked! If you can, run first thing before you've eaten anything.

I gave up butter, vegetable oil spreads etc and lost 9lbs without noticing untill I realised all my jeans were hanging off me.

I have jam or peanut butter on toast now you don't miss it.

I lost 7lbs when I gave up booze 4 years ago.

I still have crisps most days and things like pie and sausage.

I put olive oil on jaket potatoes.

I've just lost a stone in a month by using My Fitness Pal on my iphone or online. Its a simple calorie counter, and I limited myself to 1000 per day and increased my excerice... I used an ergo (rowing maching) 3 times a week for 1/2 hr... running also works a dream for me.

Eat less, move more.

I don't find quick fix diets (cabbage diet etc) sustainable, as you just pile it back on when you eat normally....

As you limit what you eat, you'll find your stomach shrinks and you're not as hungry. I've had a bowl of cereals and a salad for luncha and do not feel in the slightest hungry (altho its only 2pm!!), and ive lean meat or fish with salad/veg for tea.

I've also stopped drinking wine in the evening, and swapped for a long G& slimline tonic (only 56 calories)....Grin

I've just lost 5lbs in 5 days on a juicing diet (Jason Vale, I think). I wouldn't recommend it long term, but it's good for a kick start.

Um - eat less, exercise more. Cut out bread, chips, cakes, crisps, pastry. No exception. If you cant get out to run, get a second / third hand treadmill in the paper and you WILL lose it, and the healthy way too rather than a silly fad diet which isnt going to change your lifestyle longterm x

Phentermine increases your risk of heart problems/stroke as it is a stimulant which increases your metabolic rate - makes you high. A friend used it and it was shocking how she reacted to it....

Sensible healthy eating is FAR better.

I'm in day two of attack phase of Dukan (read the whole book on Wed night and started Thurs)... stopped the wine, carbs, sugar etc yesterday, had a slight headache, feel great today... just made my first Dukan gallette (pancake) - it's not bad!

Plan to shift some pounds to fit into a dress for an awards ceremony... !!! Anyone else done Dukan? come tomorrow I may be flagging...

Drop the carbs - try Dukan attack for a few days and then when you introduce, do NOT go bonkers with them. I have lowered my 'natural' weight by doing this and exercising regularly. Basically, just over a year ago I decided to give the Dukan a go after a VERY social August had meant I put on 5/6lbs. I got a stinking headache for a couple of days but persevered for 4 days and then ate normally but really cut back on bread (i.e I would have soup for lunch without the bread and salad with chicken or fish instead of sandwiches. I weigh v small amounts of pasta and rice out.) I dropped 5 kilos in 4 days on the Dukan (yes - kilos - and I wasn't actually overweight) and all but one of those has stayed off for the past year. I do have treats (slice of cake everyday) but I dont eat rubbish the majority of the time, and I do a lot of exercise.

"Cut out bread, chips, cakes, crisps, pastry" - I personally wouldn't know a pastry if it jumped up and bit me in the backside. Not everybody struggling with their weight is a junkfood-addict couch potato.

black tie do advice needed.
Need a posh frock for a do on november 3rd. am not a very feminine person, don't own a posh frock, don't really do high heels though have good legs. Happier in jeans and tees but need to make an effort. will feel self-conscious in frills and flounces and prints, would be ok with something classic and elegant. am size 14-16, five foot seven, pushing 50 and have short dark hair and green eyes. Problem area is sticky out gut but boobs ok.
Also, on a pretty limited budget. No idea where to begin......

Hi, Babycakes, I started with a Magimix one which fell apart after a few weeks (so don't go there!) I've now got a Jack LaLanne power juicer, think I paid £50/60. It was a while ago & I haven't broken it yet!! - BUT it is a bugger to clean, as most juicers prob are.

(Here's another Biscuit for HazleNutt)
