What can I do to cover up grey hairs in between hair colouring appointments?

Its only been over a week and already I can see them making an appearance along my parting. I recently had it highlighted hair but it was so damaging to my hair that I decided to go back to brunette. It was quite dark as the hairdresser used a medium brown however its faded and I've got used to it it now and love the colour. It looks shiny and feels so much healthier its just the dam grey that is poking though help!!! How often do you need to dye yours?

You can get hair mascara from avon (have a look on ebay too), just brush the closest colour onto your hair in between hairdresser appointments. Mine is horrible, ill have it dyed 1 week and can see then poking through, there's not that many but there the awful shocking white type so no hiding them. i did go to a hairdressers once and they had advertisements up showing a new product added to the dye to make it last longer, i don't know what it was called but it certainly worked, this it lasted around 4-5 weeks, they've since closed though and ive not seen it anywhere else..

I am brunette but have it highlighted lighter to a caramel shade.

I am very grey along parting/ front and centre so ask the hairdresser to add a few blonder highlights around there, which makes the grey regrowth less obvious. Also lightens up my face, especially in sunnier months.

A demi-permanent? Should cover greys, its what I do - I use Boots Botanics or Casting. They last about 2 washes.

last about 24 washes!!! 2 would be useless!!!!

Odd that you have greys so soon after dying. Would you consider sulfate-free shampoo? I'm getting much longer between colours since I dad. I use Naked or Organix ranges.

Can anyone link to the Avon mascara? I can't seem to find it. The Ebay ones look good.

Mrs blooming. Can you tell me more about your caramelisation?! I'm thinking of going the same way precisely because I'm sick of regrowth.

How dark are you? I'm v dark but gingery at mo due to bad choice of hair colour.

Root Touch Up by Clairol, I think... Fab!

I vote for Root Touch Up as well. I do along my parting and around the front and sides and it seems to do the job between hairdresser visits.

I'm pretty dark brunette normally - but a dull dark brown, not chocolatey.

I don't know what my colours are as the hairdresser changed brands and she then had to guesstimate what I was.

But I've got a warm caramel brown as the base and then blonder highlights scattered throughout.

Sorry!

I use the ebay mascara where ever my parting is for that day (it changes on my mood)

I used to use the root touch up option, but now just go to the hair dressers every 12 weeks, and use the mascara inbetween. My greys will start showing through at about week 4 of going to hairdressers.

so do you have warm caramel highlights or as a block of colour all over and then lighter highlights over that?
thanks!

Got Aveda dye at the hairdressers and it was great. Mid brown with a few blond foils on top.
But hair seems to grow too quickly - this week tried Clairol Root Touch Up - (£4.70) and it was a tiny amount which just wasn't enough. Left it on for 20 minutes - says 10mins and 15 for persistent greys and was let down that the greys still showing through.
Booked another appointment now.
(old age doesn't come itself!) :(

I think its from where I might of plucked them before as they are short ones plus I think my dam hair just grows really quickly. I went quite dark and my grey hairs are actually white so I may have to go lighter next time. I am only 30 got another 30 years of this until I give up Sad

I have dark brown hair with highlights through the top and a caramel rinse over it all. The highlights are the only thing I've ever found that camouflage the regrowth but I hate the stripey look of them in dark hair hence the rinse.

I've got highlights, all done with foils, with my natural colour as the base (but well-hidden!).

I seem to need the whole head done every 12 months, half head every 6 month, and then t-sections the rest of the time.
