So winters coming...well frankly it feels like its arrived up here....but the onslaught of central heating, bracing wind and rain awaits so i would like to know what face cream would you rave about. What has kept your skin radiant and lovely despite the weathers best attempts to leave it dry, wind chapped and less than perfect??? Thank you!

It isn't a face cream but Eve Lom cleanser is amazing and does everything you mentioned by very gently exfoliating all the old skin away each evening - I used it last winter and it really livened up m complexion during the long, hard months. I have great skin now and believe it is completely down to this product.

Oil cleansing method here, so no creams. Best skin ever.

Two, Neal's Yard Frankinsense and, believe it or not, Astral. Always use it in winter, but this summer used it as well, and I reckon my skin looks 10 yrs younger.

Best one for my skin was Clarins Eclat de Jour, but they stopped doing it Sad last winter my skin was a mess.

I have used Estee Lauder Daywear (the one for dry skin) for years and I would 100% recommend it. Best I've ever used by far.

Liz Earle moisturiser - makes your skin so smooth

Apparently SPF 50 or at least 30 protects you a fair bit from the elements apart from just UV light - not sure how or why, but for that reason you could continue/start to use SPF 50 even though the worst of summer is over. No 7 do one. Clinique City block is SPF 40+, and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is SPF 50. Failing that MAC do a makeup primer which is SPF 50.

In terms of just normal moisturisation I really rate Dermalogica Skin Smoothing cream. Its affordable, lovely to use, not too heavy, not too light, and is one of the only things I've used over the years that prevents my nose flaking thing (though now I'm using AHA's that's gone even without skin smoothing cream)

I use Clarins Serum Multi-Reparateur, very calming. It's one of the few products I keep buying all the time.
Also L'Occitane Sensitive Serum and mask - which I use sometines instead of moisturiser. It's the Shea and Cotton range.

Oh and It could be just wishful thinking, but just have been trying something called "Works with water clear skin" supplement and it actually seems to be working - skin's calmed down, redness gone.

Rodial Glamtox (I think that's what it's called) is amazing. But is also £90 a tub. I haven't replaced the one I've used yet.

faith in nature moisturiser is the best i have ever used.

£7 compared to the £30+ i've wasted on the 'posh' creams like estee lauder.

Best ever definitely Sisley's Sisley-A. Was always very expensive but now outrageously so, though.

I like Dermalogica's skin smoothing cream, sorted out my dryness perfectly so I'll stick with that this winter I think.

However, to add some balance to all the Dermalogica reviews I have been posting today I found that Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair (face and eye serums) are really lovely. I tend to use them in the day under my normal moisturiser though.

The other thing I used a while ago and will go back to after this DC is born is Glytone Step Up which I bought from a Sk:n clinic. It's anti aging I think but is basically glycolic acid based skin care. Made my skin fine line free although you have to use a high spf with it because your skin is more sensitive afterwards.

At the moment, I'd opt for that over the other two.

Well now. I use Soap & Glory Wish Upon A Jar one week in every three throughout winter and it is absolutely amazing. I am a cynic, but this really does strip my skin of the thick feeling and gently leaves it silky smooth. The other two weeks I use a single drop of pure argan oil to fend off the elements.

I do the ocm now so interesting to see if I need either of these this year :)

Jo Malone moisturiser. Was a present but skin glows now. Never glowed before! Am totally replacing when done.

Eve Lom cleanser and the TLC cream. Both are amazing. i currently have half a jar of the cleanser left and have been eeking it out over the last 3 months. THe TLC cream can take my skin from chapped, red and blotchy to calm, smooth and silky in about 30 seconds. Tis magic.

Dermalogica skin smoothing cream is fab. I also use the daily microfoliant powder which is great for brightening dull winter skin.

In the winter I use Neals Yard Wild Rose Beauty balm as a cleanser and take it off with a muslin, then just use a tiny bit to moisturise dry areas after. Similar to Eve Lom/oil cleansing method, I suppose.

For winter: Dr. Hauschka Rose Cream Light. amazing. And I'm from northern europe where -30C is not uncommon.

Another vote for Dr Hauschka Rose cream. I use the light stuff in the summer and the full fat version in the winter

Neal's Yard orange flower night cream works magic on my dry skin, esp in winter when it is prone to red itchy patches. For day I usually use the rose and mallow one (I think? rose and something anyway, in a pot not a bottle) and that is great too but in the worst weather I use the night cream for day as well and it's fine for putting makeup over, etc. LOVE that stuff. I do also like Dr H rose cream but find it v heavy compared with the Neal's Yard ones (and not great for quick application of makeup over the top)

I like the Eve Lom cleanser. I think (not that i have used it in a while) that the Estee Lauder moisturiser in the green pot is lovely!

aqua, the original version or Rose Cream is indeed heavy, I save it for skiing and very cold days only. But have you tried the Light version?

Report
SpeedyGonzalez · 20/09/2011 12:28

Lush's Celestial. Just perfect, and not too heavy on the scent, unlike their other products.

I used to use a Vichy one a long time ago, but now it's Lush all the way.
