Anyone tried Argan oil from Boots?

Have been reading up on Moroccan oil and argan oil and trying to decide what to buy. Has anyone tried this from Boots?

I have mid length very thick, wavy, fairly coarse, frizzy, uncooperative hair (and no time/inclination to spend ages styling). I am hoping this will transform my life Grin

By the way, I have been trying the curly girl method for the last couple of months but not getting very good results and find washing it this way too time consuming

I use Moroccan Hair Oil, different brand but very similar. It's a nice feeling product but it's not the miracle I was looking for. Have you tried the Babyliss Big Hair? It's a spinning hair drying brush - now that is a miracle.

I love it! Moroccan oil is fab but I found it very expensive, so i tried the argan and it's fab! Really recommend it

That's good to hear 2ww

I haven't tried the BBH Al0uise, I leave my hair to dry naturally and so not sure I would find time to use it. My 12mo isn't very tolerant of me wanting to do things like brush my teeth or wash my face, let alone blow-dry my hair! Also I'm not sure I want more volume, I feel like my hair is too big for my face

I looked at Argan oil in Boots and thought it was a bit pricey so I bought the VO5 version.

It's lovely - smells really nice, isn't greasy at all and apart from shampoo & conditioner I don't use any other product now.

I use it on wet hair, before I straighten and then to finish. I even sleep with it on! My hair is coarse, wavy and very dry, but this has softened and tamed it very well.

thanks hormones, can you buy the VO5 version on the high st? How much is it?

I've used that stuff on my thick wavy hair and it's fab. It's cheaper in superdrug (as i discovered after buying it in boots).

Does anyone use this for very curly hair - corkscrew/ringlet curls?

My DDs both have hugely curly hair, but the biggest in particular is very very curly! I feel like her curls need some definition, would this help? My hair is more or less straight, curls are an unknown quantity!

marzipananimal - I got it in Boots and I think it was £4.99 but you only need a few drops at a time. Thanks auldspinster, I'll look for it in Superdrug next time.

Argan oil hasn't worked on my wavy hair Sad. I had high hopes for it too.

I think anything with Argan Oil in it is a good start - I've been using a Matrix Biolage oil my hairdresser gave me and really like it. Both the Moroccanoil and the branded Argan Oil in Boots have silicones added though, don't know if that bothers you or not?

I was just popping onto this thread to mention the silicones...daimbardiva has beaten me to it! I can't use too much product with silicones without my hair becoming dull and nasty, and since my wonderful Bumble and bumble straightening stuff is riddled with them I try to avoid them everywhere else.

The Matrix Biolage oil however (no silicones) is FABULOUS - though I do wonder if it would be cheaper just to buy pure argan oil (the Biolage one is basically just olive oil, argan oil, and a tiny bit of lavender essential oil).

I've also got some of the Naked Leave In conditioner with shea butter and argan oil (also no silicones) - love this after swimming.

Yes, much to my annoyance I bought some of the V05 one yesterday and couldn't check the ingerdients because you have to peel back the label and when I got it home peeled it and found it was full of silicones which are strictly banned from my hair. Can't really take it back either as the label is mow damaged.

how annoying whoknows, I hate it when you have to peel the label off to read things.
Well I couldn't find the argan oil or the VO5 in Boots so I have ordered a sample bottle of Moroccan oil from ebay and will see how that goes. If I don't get on with that I might try some pure Argan oil. Anyone know where you can get that?
Meglet have you found anything that works on your hair?

oh, bad luck whoknows. I pounced on the only remaining bottle of the VO5 one and peeled the label back in the shop to check the ingredients - felt a bit cheeky UNTIL I realised that someone else had not only already done that, but had also helped themselves to a very substantial slug from the bottle!

I think you can find pure argan oil on ebay marzipan, and there are lots of threads on this with links

I tried to peel the label in the shop but it wouldn't open, normally I am pretty good at these! I was in a hurry so I just bought it. There is a high end natural beauty shop in my town, I tend to forget it's there but walked past the other day, might go and see if they have any Argan oil.

You can get the pure argan oil from Amazon. There's a few different makes on there.
I've just bought one to replace the Morrocan oil I'd been using, which was having less beneficial effect as the bottle went down.

So far, the argan oil is much nicer, although it does have a yukky smell when you first pour it out. The smell soon goes, though, and it seems to have a much nicer effect than the Morrocan version. I seem to need to use hardly any, as well.

I much prefer Argan oil to most all other oils for my hair and skin. I have been religiously applying Argan oil to my forehead and I swear wrinkles a lessening. essenceofargan.com/ is my spot to get the oil, such a quality company.
