If your winter wardrobe consists almost entirely of navy blue and grey...

...with flashes of teal and red, what colour winter boots would you buy?

I am looking at knee highs for wearing with dresses, skirts and occasionally jeans, but don't know whether to go for dark brown, tan or black to suit the rest of my wardrobe.

Tan would be best of those three, but not an orangey one. There are some grey/taupe coloured boots out there which may be better.

I have tan/grey/forest green/brown ones from Duo and black ones from Toast.

The Toast ones are the smartest and get worn the most. I think black looks great with navy though. The tan ones look ok with navy but they still look lighter than the top half so it's a bit Hmm. I still wear them though.

For slightly more casual days I wear the knee length forest green ones - they actually look great with navy and grey as I accessorise with green scarf/jade necklace.

I got all of these boots in the sale - Duo usually have 2 or 3 rounds of reductions so I have never paid more than £50 a pair.

The ones I've worn the least have been the dark brown ones - I think brown looks very boring with navy whereas you can just get away with the tan.

I also have a winter wardrobe dominated by blue (mainly navy) and grey.

Last winter after agonising I went for brown boots and must say I didn't wear them all that much, going for my old black boots and a grey suede pair I'd bought instead. Towards the end of the winter I did decide to get more use out of them and they were OK but felt a little dull.

This year, think I'd go for tan - taupe-y if possible and not orangey - rather than brown. Though do like the Clarks pair someone posted here on Clarks thread which are ebony - a brown so dark it's practically black.

thanks all, I do fancy tan but am yet to find any that aren't too orange-y. Fly do the Mistrals in 'anthracite' which I imagine is supposed to be a dark grey but it looks black on the website.

I would look for dark grey or go for black. I have dark brown, fly mols (some mners despise them) they are fine for casual dry autumn days, but black boots are more versatile, and I know some people don't like black and blue together, I think it is okay.

Jones Bookmaker have some lovely taupe knee boots - cant link on phone but they are called Raquel 2 and look much better in real life than online! Would be a great colour with navy and grey. Would call it a Grey mushroom - have been thinking about them myself
