Where do you get good (interesting) tights from?

Ideally under £7/pair because it makes me do that sucky-in-breath thing that plumbers do when they look at a particularly dodgy bit of pipe.

(feel free to make jokes about the tights troll)

Oddly enough, there have been some nice 'fancy' tights in Marks & Sparks lately - I got some nice black ones with a bow pattern on and they had some lacy ones and other bits.

//www.tightsplease.co.uk have a good range and their service is reliable.

What makes a pair of tights interesting to you? I tend to think that patterned ones make it lo ok like you've got varicose veins.

I got some great bright stipey winter tights from Tesco and Morrisons last year for £4 a pair. I had loads of people asking where they were from.

"Interesting" = not just plain black. Anything good really. And I am far too young for it to look like I have varicose veins Wink

TK maxx have some good ones.Loads of pretty polly etc. Call me a trotter, but I got some fab hot pink leopard print ones there last winter for £4. I look forward to the day post-pregnancy when I can wear them again without my middle looking like the join in a string of sausages.

Seconded TK Maxx.

Was that the Wolford arse? Yeah, not what I want to see either, but they do sell nice tights!

Our local John Lewis has a brilliant selection for about £6 a pair

I am an 'interesting tights' fiend and I have had good pairs from:

Wolford (in the HoF sale - still expensive but they do last well);
Accessorize (mega cheap in the sale);
TK Maxx - they often do interesting tattoo patterns etc;
M&S - some awful ones but the Autograph cashmere mix are good (though plain) and they do have at least one nice lace pair at the moment;
Topshop;
Tie Rack (I don't think they do many pairs but I got a gorgeous pair a few weeks ago).

What are the secrets of toe socks? I am intrigued...

I like brora cashmere tights but they are the opposite of £7 or under, as in they are about 7 times that amount and it is a bit heartbreaking when they get trashed. But maybe as a treat?

The Tabio ones are all way too much as well.

My local TKMaxx has never had a single nice pair of tights that I have seen.

JohnLewis was okay last time I looked but only okay.

Tightsplease looks good for filling up my already-overflowing socks/tights drawer. I don't know how it can be so full yet so difficult to find a pair that I want to wear.

My Tights have a fine selection at a range of prices.
Stockings HQ do stockings and tights. (Though don't join their Facebook page as it attracts some very strange types!) I tend to wear 'interesting' tights especially the woolly ones or seamed stocking for the (rare) occassions I now go out dressed up.
Got some very nice ones from M&S last year but haven't looked this year. H&M had some fun ones yesterday.

Someone asked me how long my Tabio tights lasted the other day.

I have pairs which are 10 YEARS OLD.

They are worth every penny, IMO.

But I don't want one pair of tights that will last for 10 years but cost £20. I want 3 pairs of tights in different colours or patterns.

Maybe it wasn't the case back when you were young, but nowadays young people wear tights. Wink

I hate hate hate John Lewis tights. Not much help about where to get nice ones, as I live in M&S black opaques (Jonathan Aston for specials), but just to say that my John Lewis tights always seem to have a funny elastic balance - if the legs fit the waist just falls down and the crotch ends up around my knees.

I second Accessorize.

It's also worth browsing on the figleaves outlet from time to time - not much there now but sometimes there are fab bargains.
