Also, how much were you thinking of spending?

carri I am a third generation Nivea junkie and the most basic of basic Nivea is gorgeous and gets flung in the trolley at Tesco.
you are lucky that your skin hasn't felt that crinkly feeling that I have every day before I put moisturiser on (ancient)

you really don't need to spend £150 on some posh stuff, it is there just to keep water in your skin.

plus...don't smoke!
My SIL spends £0000 of pounds on cosmetics and treatments and is still MUCH wrinklier (same age, she smokes, I don't)

Go for something cheap and basic. Moisturisers are basically all the same ingredients, just in different quantities with some scent thrown in. They all do exactly the same thing, it just depends on which texture and thickness you like. The really pricey ones are a con. They say they have some magic ingredient but there will only be a minuscule trace of it. So don't waste your money.

I am (very) nearly 36 and very rarely wear moisturiser. Skin still ok but maybe it will suddenly all fall off.

Do they still hand out freebies on beauty counters these days? I used to like Clarins before I had DC's (ie: when I had money).

No.7 is good stuff. I use perform & protect serum and the cream when it's on offer and use a mixture of Lush Shangri La and vaseline the rest of the time. It took years to find the right mix for me (am 37).

yes lawrie you see that quite often. well dressed woman walking down the street and all of a sudden her face falls off. all because of under-moisturising.

think on!

I started wearing moisturiser at 13 as my skin felt uncomfortable without it.

Go for the cheapest thing you can find with SPF, thats the important thing as that will help to stop the aging process.

I just can't imagine getting up in the morning and NOT putting some sort of moisturiser on. It makes your skin feel sooooo good. Also, do you wear make up without moisturising first? How does THAT work?

LawrieMarlow · 05/09/2011 18:06

I very very rarely wear makeup.

i use the cheapo original nivea, the one in the blue pot, it's all i've ever used.

I use Oil of olay with SPF too - like one of the other posters. Moisturised and supple skin is key to minimising the affects of ageing....you really must get on with it - oh and use body lotion after a bath / shower too (I have only just started doing the latter at 43!)

I mean, even my brother moisturises in the morningGrin

I have used moisturiser since I was 15. It has paid dividends as I am now 52 and look much younger. I always wear moisturiser with SPF15.

You aren't doing your skin any favours by not protecting it. I agree with the comments about not needing to spend £££ - it really isn't necessary unless you have very sensitive skin. Over the years I have used Body Shop, Virgin Vie, Boots, Olay, l'Oreal and countless others and have been told by a beautician that my skin is in excellent condition.

another one who uses moisturiser with spf15 every day. I swear by clarins multi active day lotion (and the cream version in the depths of winter). It's £££ but I have been using it for 5 years now and can't imagine changing. It just works on my skin. PReviously used olay but olay seem to have gone mad (too many diffusion lines for my taste!) lately so can't compare products.
