This is the bag I can't afford...

I love this bag and have wanted one like it for ages.

I can't afford it though, so are there any high street bags that are similar in style that I might love too?

I need it to have a long strap that can go over my shoulder and I need to love it!

there seems to be one with bidding starting at 99p

Thanks Magic. This one is a 99p starting bid, but its got 6 days to go and like this one here they tend to go for quite a lot, especially in the last few hours. I've been watching quite a few.
There are quite a few copies from China but a bit worried about it being a bit rubbish when it turns up and regretting wasting my bag fund money!

Thats why I was hoping one of the high street shops would have something similar and then at least you can see what you are buying first. I will keep those ebay ones on watch though, you never know when you are going to get a bargain! Plus, watching for misspelling of Cath Kidston might be a good idea I guess.

I really don't like the clunky white strap. Otherwise it's rather nice.

Tempting, what do you think?

Cheap as chips and a bargain to boot? Or a waste of money, instantly regretted?

noooo!

Here's what to do - save half the money for the CK bag one month, and th other half the next....then buy what you really want.
You will only look at cheaper alternatives and think mmm....not as good.

Plus - it's a toilet bag. Come on now. Grin

I know Pictish but I've been aiming to do that for ages and I just can't justify the money. In the next few months I have to buy a winter coat and I also need some wellies so my clothes/accessories budget is going to be hammered as it is!

Waste of money instantly regretted.

It looks cheap & nasty - I think you can do better.

Do you have a TKMax near you? They're great for bags.

What is it you like so much about the CK bag - the spots or the style and if it's the style - what specifically?

Most of it will be full of nappies to be fair!

ChippingIn Yes! Bags should have their own thread. I love bags, far too much really.

I love the blue and the spots, I just love it really. I like the CK florals too but the spots suit my clothes much better I think, I'm not really a floral girl.

I like the shoulder/cross body strap, I'll never have a hand free with a 1 yr old and a 2 yr old. I like that its waterproof in the oil cloth, I like that its a bit preppy and I like the blues because it suits my wardrobe (if you can call my sorry assortment a wardrobe Grin ) of clothes.

My name is ChippingIn and I'm an enabler.

I think you should buy it - the wellies can wait.

I don't think it's expensive for a bag and you love it. Why pay half or three quarters of the amount for something that's just 'ok'?

It's oilskin etc - it should last you a good long while shouldn't it?

PottyRefusnik · 02/09/2011 22:13

I wondered if it will be out of style very soon, they've already been 'in' quite a while haven't they? Don't want to spend all my cash to find they are totally over!

I wonder how much I'll really need a coat and wellies this winter? Its not going to get cold, is it? Nah..... dead warm I bet!

I agree with Chipping as well. I'd have it. I think it's just about affordable. Sod wellies....you can get them later.

Potty: do not me tempted by imitations. I speak from experience...you will not be happy with them. What can you cut back on to save up for the bag you really want?
Also; keep in mind that the diaper-bag stage is not very long. Your DCs will soon need much less in the way of supplies for every outing and you will be left with a very expensive, very large bag. Think long term.

Tbh Cath Kidston is dead and buried already....but that wouldn't put me off.

I'm an enabler too. If I can't buy any more purses then I will encourage YOU to do so!

Neither me - it's everywhere. I do quite like that spotty bag though.

You guys aren't helping with finding me a cheaper alternative!! I do love it. Think my DH would be unimpressed if I spent that much on a bag (as would I be if he spent it on... whatever it is blokes buy)

I hadn't got the memo about CathK being totally over. Maybe I should rethink my plans?

I think I have at least another 12-18 months with nappies to cart around, sippy cups, spare knickers and trousers etc. So I figure whatever bag I buy will be dead by then anyway through day-today wear and tear and then I'd downsize a little. This is me downsizing from a massive nappy bag as it is.

This is nice and on sale at half the price. I love sativa bags.

Maybe I should wait and buy my winter coat (quite excited about that actually. I'll be able to buy a size 12 for the first time since 2008 because I've either been pregnant or fat since then - and at one point both pregnant and fat which was quite a low!) and then buy a bag that goes with the coat.

Am I best to wait?

Hmm - sorry Pictish, I don't share your love of Sativa.

Potty - sorry, will try harder Grin
