Isn't it about time those hideous leggings sloped back to the 80's were they belong?!!!!

I've never been a fan, and think it's high time this awful trend died a death! Is anyone else sick to death with shops awash with leggings and tunic style tops/dresses?!!!

You don't have to wear them.

Yes, but I do have to look at these ghastly things! Grin

Yes. Especially when worn by people with large legs

I only ever wore jeans so they're a godsend I reckon.

Yes, ifI I see another poor quality empire line tunic I shall scream! I want some choice in the shops!

Ah Melina but what do you wear that others have to look at Wink

I wear leggings because I'm pregnant and they are very comfy. I lived in jeans before DS (except for work) but got a bit bored so leggings are a safe way of branching out. Dont like tunic dresses much - prefer more fitted long tops/shorts instead.

I wear them and I'm a big fat fatty Grin

No, seriously, I do. With a lovely huge chunky H&M jumper, leather boots and a massive wooly scarf. Great for the winter.

There's only about 6 inches of leg on show, and my mother hasn't told me I look like an overstuffed sausage, so they must look OK!

I like leggings, as long as they are worn with a bum (and top of thigh) covering top!

I like leggings, but NEVER wear them with tunic style tops

Love footless tights too

I think it gives your wardrobe more options, and when your knees resemble a couple of Yorkshire puds like mine, they are a godsend

I'm a big fat fatty who wears them too, but only with things I would otherwise wear tights with.
this means I can wear dresses in the summer - my bare legs are hideous nd my thighs rub so leginngs are a godsend when tights are not suitable.

Nothing wrong with leggings...its the tunics that want burning. Imo they're only admissable for pregnant people!

Leggings only look bad on people who are under 5.5 and overweight.

'I like leggings, but NEVER wear them with tunic style tops' - what do you wear them with then cyb? Not snarking, just curious Smile

I love leggings - they are comfy, good in (cool) summer and winter and I personally love wearing them with tunics/dresses

i've seen far too many women bending over (at car boot sales!) and you can see absolutely everything, including the gusset of their pants.

only to be worn if you're sure they are thick enough or you bum ain't on show

cyb · 02/09/2011 10:27

I wear with dresses usually. But tend to wear the 'end under the knee' ones and high wedges

MumblingRagDoll · 02/09/2011 10:28

Like Cyb I don't wer them with tunics but with a big jersey,...and sometimes with an oversized shirt...they look plain wrong with dresses.

As long as you wear them as an alternative to tights, NOT an alternative to trousers they are alright.

Sorry MissVerinder...I keep posting before completely reading the thread!I was thinking though....it all depends on the person....some peoplemight look better in things than someone else. I'm no skinn minnie myself...but I'm quite tall....my sister is short and looks funny in leggings even though she's skinny....different body types can pull different things off.

I look riduculous in dresses.

Mumbling I think it tends to looks like youve forgotten your trousers if you wear with a top

And there are dresses and dresses

Think only teens can get away with long jumper/top and leggings

Report
MissVerinder · 02/09/2011 10:34

Mumbling don't apologise! I can only just get away with them!

If my mum said anything then they'd all go in the bin.

I was completely skint last year, so I bought them from Primark, but will be treating myself to the real deal this time round.

I am overweight, but have got a good shape- just managed to get rid of my post pregnancy pot belly three years a few months down the line.

Usually I live in jeans, but my leggings were a God-send during DD's pg, as my jeans made me sick!

Now I'm either in shorts or jeans (depending on sun levels :o ) but I'm actually looking forward to autumn/winter this year, and wearing some leggings with hugely long sweaters, and nice chunky boots. Mainly cos I've lost shedloads a bit of weight
