Hey all,

Was just wondering your thoughts on ugg boots? I like them but are they too common? Are they worth £255 and will they last?

The ones I want/like are ugg kensington in brown but not sure

Any thoughts

I suspect that you will get various comments on this thread. Some will love UGG boots, others will say they are hideous. My personal thought is I love UGG boots, they are warm, comfortable and I can walk for miles in them in winter.

However, I do NOT buy UGG boots now, I buy the BearPAw Lug Sole boots which last much longer and are better designed for outside wear. Oh and are much cheaper.

I am one of those who love uggs. They are soo comfy and i think they look good with a range of diff clothes, however they are not for the rain and in my experience they do not last. I am on my third pair now. Both my other pairs went at the toe. They seem to get very thin in that area and then a split appears. Not between the sole and the suede but the actual material has ripped on top of the boot where my big toe is. I am undecided as to if i would invest in another pair if my current ones go the same way
However i am lucky that i can buy kids sizes.

I wear mine as slippers mostly, and when the weather gets too cold because my feet never warm up otherwise, but they are hidden away usually.

Hmmm...my friend has a couple of pairs and I think they look nice on her, they suit her style, but they are neat and clean. It is the uggs and fake uggs worn by some of the young girls around here that are trashed and dirty and look cheap.

I would like a pair as I am very much style over comfort in deep winter, but the cost is prohibitive.

coffeeIsMyFriend Those BearPaw ones look good though, can I ask, does the heel hold its shape? Alot off ugg style boots seem to get really floppy heels.

The lug sole ones have a proper walking outdoor sole and do hold their heel shape. From what I have seen it is only the cheap/fakes that do not.

I hate seeing dirty, fake boots on girls. It looks awful and how they can wear them when the heel is all squishy is beyond me.

gapants I have 3 pairs of Bearpaws with lug sole and they are brilliant in Winter, especially in the snow. I also have a pair of Celtic Sheepskin boots which look the same as UGGs and they are brilliant, had them about 5 years now and they also hold their shape.

My daughters UGGs are lovely and have held their heel shape, sadly too small for her now. May sell them on ebay so I can buy her a new pair this winter. They are too good to chuck out.

I bought uggs for the first time last year (chocolate roslynn, slightly sturdier than the sloppy type ones and zip up).
I luuurrrvvvveee them, so comfy, wore them with everything, was gutted to put them away in the spring, but shoukd be able to get them out soon Grin

Buy them, you wont regret it

mine have a structured heel shape, with seams, and side zip so imo look better than the 'floppy' ones - i am only a size 2 so they look quite dainty - and the soles have 'hoofs' so they do not slip around and have a very good grip - i have been very happy with them, so warm and dry (but you do need to proof them on a regular basis)

Dh got a pair last year of the kensington ones and loves them because they don't look like uggs, I got the black cardi ones and had lovely toasty warm feet, they kept their shape too. I bought a pair of short classic chestnut ones for this winter , can't wait to wear them. I'd do it, they'll last you for years

yes gapants TK Maxx did them last year - I looked to buy some more as they were only about £50, but resisted.

i've just started a thread about ugg type boots with a link to some skechers ones on amazon for about £24, genuine fur, but only small sizes left, here

I've got the grey knitted ones and I love them - comfortable and go with anything (although I do wear a lot of black/grey so can't go wrong really!)

Not great in the rain, which is the only downside.

I've been looking on the BearPaw website and there are some really nice designs on there. The UK site doesn't seem to be working though Sad

Does anyone know where else sells them? The ones from TK Maxx all seem a bit plain...

I'm an Ugg boot virgin, but want some comfy shoes for work...

I practically live in my Uggs through the winter, I wear them in the snow and rain and they're fine as long as you spray the protector stuff on.

I think they wear really well, I've had my Sundance Uggs for 4 years and they still look ok, tall blacks 2 or 3 and they're fine and got the Kenly Uggs last autumn and they look like new.

The Kenly's are scotchguarded and quite waterproof.

They are def not slippers!

Perry is right... but possibly also Australian (g'day perry...) we have irrational prejudice against wearing them outside the house, would no more do it than wear PJ bottoms to work... Colleen Rooney, look away...
